Nobody...
I mean, is it a coalition of united front opposition Parties (and the strike is a coordinated attack to make things ungovernable) or is it the usual ANC doing nothing drawing a salary? I see its in Mpumalanga which I think is a ANC strong hold in which case, my heart bleeds lumpy custard for the people there having to live in the rubbish.

The municipality dismissed the whole lot last year for absconding for an entire month. After which they reversed this decision… biggest mistake.
Way too much criminality is allowed in this country with 'marches and protesters' and sadly the law abiding, tax payer is the only one who ever seems to suffer for this.....

Then again we have 6500 odd murders a year and we have a twat in a hat and a dollar bill, sofa stuffing thief of a president who just allows it...Well...actually we as South Africans allow it....(I detest the ANC voter more than the ANC politician)

(Although I read this last night and thought maybe we are not so bad! Lets hope this stupidity doesnt reach us..)

Those municipal workers have been striking for months on and off. They have been vandalising this town and intimidating. These municipal workers are the same ass-holes stealing power cables and leaving the town in dark hours at end.

The one shot dead works in the electrical department he was probably arrogant which is why he met his demise when violently forcing his way with the security guards. The municipal workers strikings’ intend is to harm the management and intimidate workers who want to do the job they paid to do. I don’t condone violent actions but these municipal workers striking like this are scum. The entire town has rubbish and glasses all over the place… fvck them, go back to the stone age
Check!
“They were coming for the municipal manager and broke down the gates, resulting in guards having to defend their own lives,” the company says.

• It’s not the first time striking employees have been accused of firing live ammunition.

A few months ago, Hoërskool Middelburg hostel residents had to be ordered away from the dormitory’s windows, and down on the ground, after numerous shots were fired towards the school from the municipality’s parking lot.

Police were called but the weapon could not be traced.

Now that's what you call a sense of entitlement.
There is no such thing as a peaceful protest in SA just entitlement and vow-lence. Those who incited violence here were a combination of municipal workers and criminals who hide under the guise of politics (ANC/EFF) - the very people being interviewed by NewsAfrika.

Once you disregard municipal structures and take orders from a mob, the community as a whole is fvcked and all decisions in the district is easily influenced by criminals /politicians... it's a downward spiral from thereon. Forget about service delivery and compliance, the corruption flood gates are wide open... Middelburg has been managed "well" up until these municipal workers have been rallied.

The municipality has tried to push back by disciplining and laying criminals charges against these workers. But the wheels of justice are slow... they probably going muster political influence to replace the current MM and drop the charges.

It's 6500 odd murders in a 3 month period, not per year.
