If 70% of the country is living on wellfare, its no brainer.
The tax base has hardly grown at al, yet the people on welfare has grown through the roof, because quite honesty on the child grant you get R1800pm. Have 5 babies and you get R9000pm sitting at home. Schooling, University and Medical care is free for them, so other than food they dont have to pay for anything really. When your kids are old enough they go work and provide for you.
For the middle class its not the same. I know. I pay 2.7x more per month for medical aid, than someone at the lower scale ---for the same freaking benefits. I have to pay for my kids schooling (or I get letters of demand), I have to pay for my house, taxes, electricity and water (or more demand letters). Then I have to pay between 30-40% in tax so the poor can get it all free with zero benefit to me. I can never claim SASSA, yet I contribute big time to it. My taxes pays for schooling (yet I have to pay for my kids too), I pay for medical (but I have to have my private medical aid - forced by my company at 2.7X.
