And yet it's the people who live in the snow who are the most successful and happiest per capita, as you go south towards the warmth, the crazy just gets worse until you get to banana republic lands of Africa. Maybe there is something to this snow which makes humans better?

+1 Higher intelligence and snow go hand in hand. Bananas and snow less so. I could not miss my snow for anything in the world. This is the advantage we Europeans have. It is the cold (and snow if you want), which helped us envolve and conquer the world (and most of the solar system).

Yet you prefer to spend your time on the banana forums

Snow is great… for skiing and that's it. Eventually it turns to slush and ruins my shoes.

I can eat stew anytime.

I'm staying.

EDIT: I've noticed that it's usually people who haven't lived with snow who tend to romanticise it. Don't get me wrong. That first snowfall of the year is awesome (especially when you're a kid and you're pretty much assured school will be closed the following day) but after that… suckage.

Experienced snow once in the midlands, that was enough. Same goes for the cold, hate it.

Where in the Midlands and when? Two years ago, I was on my way back to JHB and Van Reenen's was closed because of the snow. Had to take an alternate route to JHB and passed Mooiriver swathed in snow. I was with 2 friends at that time - he stopped his car so that we could take pictures.

I think this is just past the Mooiplaza - the roofs were layered.

I'm really not fond of the cold - in fact it's one of the main reasons I moved down here in the first place. There's nothing I disliked more than frozen snot in my nose.

Here in my 'klein dorpie innie WesKaap' it's currently 30C, no wind, and not a cloud in the sky. The braai fire is lit, and the Tafel Lager is cold. Retirement is good!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with such refined tastes. At one stage I thought I was single handedly supporting NamBrew in the EC!

When I retired, no-one in my town had heard of Tafel Lager, and I had to drink SA Breweries Hansa .. when the pub owner saw how much of that I could drink, he soon bought stock of Tafel after I nagged him. Now it's quite a popular beer here. and he always makes sure there are plenty for me. If a stranger (out-of-towner) asks for one, he won't sell it to him, unless he has lots of my 'reserved stock'

Why was this post of mornevisser deleted? There's been much worse said that hasn't. It was in response to

Is Morne black per chance? Interesting view points

Seems so, but he keeps getting banned and having his posts deleted. Meanwhile similar posts from the other end of the spectrum remain.

Are you insinuating myBB is more friendly to the lighter demographic per chance?
If so I'd cautiously agree seeing how quickly the "Afrikaner" thread was locked.

Disclaimer : I have white friends :p

No, i'm saying that different views should be allowed on the forum and it appears not. I don't see anything in the deleted post that warrants it's deletion. There's much worse being said that ISN'T deleted.
