I think a better solution is to have a very low volume notification tone. My phone is always on because of work, and it's been the case for the past 12 or so years. I have adapted. That is not always so easy. Some have to keep it on all the time as they have loved ones that could have emergencies or work that has them on standby. Your situation that allows you to turn off your phone is nowhere near the template for the rest of the country.
iOS' do not disturb mode handles this well. That is not always so easy. Some have to keep it on all the time as they have loved ones that could have emergencies or work that has them on standby. That's the thing - it does not fit. The alerts I get from my systems are from random numbers, not the same old crew. And they are longer numbers used by SMS services, for example 083 456 7890 12345Oh dear. Here you go.

How to Block Calls from Strangers on Android (Ban Numbers That Are Not in Contacts)
Block all incoming phone calls from strangers (numbers that are not in your contacts) on stock Android, Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu and Samsung Galaxy.tunecomp.net
But here's the kicker...
If that doesn't fit, then you have to live with messages coming through any time of night. If you're on standby, you're on standby. Tell people to phone you and not SMS. LOTS of solutions.
Wash your tollie in the morning and you are good for the day, if you don't piss on your hands that is.
The issue is that you have no control over the solution unfortunately. That's the thing - it does not fit. The alerts I get from my systems are from random numbers, not the same old crew. And they are longer numbers used by SMS services, for example 083 456 7890 12345
Those last 5 digits are used to identify the return path. The next message from that same service will be a totally different number. And I need it on loud to hear these SMSes. I have search for a solution for years because at least once a month I get woken up by a 3am Prince from Nigeria SMS. There is no proper solution although TrueCaller has given me the best results.
:erm:My tollie washes my hands while I p*ss.

There's no law against sending SMS' afaik.Correct - but that does not give license to Discovery (or anyone else) to just assume that anyone who is asleep has their phone off and they can just send whatever they want whenever they want. They need to account for all situations, and play the one that will irritate the least number of people. They chose poorly. Although, this did not happen to me not being their customer. But I do know the irritation all too well. Some marketing knob probably made an assumption s/he did not know to be anywhere close to accurate and the fact that this thread exists is proof enough of that. [-]Discovery messed up and blaming the people whose sleep was interrupted says more about them than their "victims"[/-].
Edit - I did not read the article properly so scratch that last comment.

I suspect that depends on whether mrs librarian is on fertility treatment or not.how many unplanned babies will arrive in 9 months' time?
