Thanks for the feedback

I'm considering the z64 Android from orange

http://store.orange.com/za/electron...ix-neo-z64-64-bit-mini-pc-android-444-276696/
Seems to be the best price at the moment

For a device with the same price you can also look at
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Nagrace-HPH-TV-BOX-of-2G-16G-with-wireless-airmouse-2-4-G-remote-controller/1494386_2048801593.html
It includes an airmouse remote which would locally costs around R500.
It also runs Lollipop firmware, dual-boot Linux firmware, has AC wifi support and can play 4K videos perfectly.
DSTV Now and Supersport also work.

Here is another box but it doesn't run dual-boot Linux firmware and CPU is slightly slower but still perfect for video playback and cheaper.
eg. HD Audio(DTS,AC3,DTSHD,EAC3), 4K video playback, 3D MVC & Kodi are working like a dream.

You also get $10 discount if you message the seller and mention 'PROMHPH321ZA' order message + a free gift.
Can also discuss packaging, shipping and special requirements.

Also register with PayPal return shipping on their site to return foreign parcels for free if you decide to return something.
https://www.paypal.com/za/webapps/mpp/refunded-returns

The Intel device you mention only runs KitKat and Intel hasn't brought out Lollipop for their TV boxes or tablets(only some newer models)
It also uses X86/x64 and not ARM architecture, you'll have to get some x86/x64 Android apps to install for eg. Kodi as the ARM Kodi version(used on all non Intel Android devices) won't work.

just so you guys know...

New box on the way and should be priced similar to the 8x-h plus.

http://androidpcreview.com/amlogic-s905-based-minix-neo-u1-releasing-next-week/3588/

I think i'll wait a bit as the new box will have:

64-bit Quad-Core Cortex A53 (Amlogic S905)
5-Core Mali-450 GPU
Android Lollipop 5.1.1
Supports up to 10-bit color format
Not found on any MINIX model, or even the new Rockchip RK3368 CPU
dramatically increases the color depth and range which is perfect for 4K UHD televisions
‘True’ 4K @ 60Hz
Most TV boxes only support 4K @ 30Hz – even the NEO X8-H Plus
HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2
2GB RAM
16GB eMMC flash storage
Gigabit Ethernet
Dual band (5.0 GHz / 2.4 GHz) 802.11 wireless with both an internal and external antenna
Built-in OTA (Over The Air) firmware updating system

For people that want to buy S905 boxes I would suggest to wait until next year when the 2nd revision S905 board comes out.
Don't expect to play videos with Kodi any time soon as it's very broken on the new S905 chipset at the moment according to several reviews. The is also no DRM support for Netflix or other apps at the moment.
AMLogic will actually release a second generation S905 later this year that fix a few things the first board had problems with like hardware dts/ac3 audio support.
But in a few months time when the firmware matures it will be a nice box to have.
Better to buy a brand name than a no name box with no support.
AMLogic will also release a S912 board next year that should cost around $150-$200 which will have an upgraded CPU & GPU(finally).
The RK3288 boxes are actually around 50% faster(44000 Antutu compared to 29000-33000 on S905) and in the same price class and RK3368 boxes are more than $30 cheaper(DHL shipping also included) and get around 35000 Antutu scores.

I have the standard X8-H. Supersport Android app and DSTV Now not working. Supersport stopped working properly after update 1.0.9 and DStv Now has never worked - it keeps saying the device is already registered. MultiChoice has not been helpful at all so I have resorted to KODI and pirate streams through add-on's, supplemented with AceStreams/Torrent Streams, to watch the sport I want hand have not looked back.

My Neo X7 on the other hand is working like a charm with both apps.

The MINIX boxes appeal to me cos of the wide support, from the reviews on the web etc. it seems that they are top class units compared to the cheapy boxes out there.

Thanks for the advice on the technical stuff... seems i'll wait a little longer.

Thanks

Here are all the DSTV Now and Supersport apps with their previous versions
https://apkpure.com/dstv-now/com.dstvmobile.android?hl=en
https://apkpure.com/supersport/com.supersport.android.phone
After installing, immediately disable 'automatic updates' for the apps in Google Play.

Someone please test what versions still work and don't show 'rooted device' message like the latest versions do.

The supersport apk file can't open.Never tried the Dstv now apk
Edit:The dstv now is the same version as the present one in Play Store 1.5.9 which gives device rooted message
