Hi,

Dont know if this is the forum to post my question but i need some help setting yp mIRC. I am connecting to the internet and posting to this forum via my VM card in my phone which is connect via USB to my PC. Well browsing works on my PC and even MSN Messenger - using my mobile EDGE connection.

However my mIRC does not want to sign into IRC servers. I click connect to server but it never does. I even tryed using "caladan.shadowfire.org" on ports 21, 25, 443, 110 which should work if my firewall is blocking it etc. But nothing works.

I tryed jmIRC on my fone but still can't connect.

IRC chat servers:

irc.lagnet.org.za (South African) - Full of all different types of people and furies.
belus.zanet.org.za (South African) - Small group of people but the original south african server. Evolved from differnet.
za.shadowfire.org (South African gamers and p2p people mostly)
irc.zanet.net (Break away from zanet.org.za and few people on)
irc.blabber.net - South African/ New Zealand Mix
irc.nixus.org - All 10 people
irc.ac.za - South African EFNET international server

Do this in mIRC.

/firewall off

then type

/server irc.opera.com (no port required) if you can connect to that, then try your own servers

I found this forum by accident. I am a mIRC users and owner of an Afrikaans chatroom. I scripted mIRC for our users with added fun elements to use, also a bot to control the channel and for fun and games. I have also added an Afrikaans trivia using mIRC.

So yes mIRC and chatrooms are still alive and well.
