Hi Warren, its actually not. The group is a public group so anyone can join and there is no way of vetting wether a person joining is a scammer or not, unfortunately the nature of telegram. There is also no way to stop a member from sending a private message to another member.

So what happened is one member called or sent private messages to another member, no admins were involved. And unfortunately the admin cannot stare at his screen 24/7 so it just took a while to kick the scammer from the group.

So its not run by scammers or a nigerian as stated by someone else. Just thought i should clear that up.

Yeah. Found out later, admin/group owner was MIA when the incident occurred... That user was claiming to be admin and with the group settings the way they are you cannot physically confirm this.. i.e. they could have their normal account to post in the group and use the "group" account for admin stuff.

Question: if withdrawals are delayed on MTI, are the payouts made on the current value of BTC or the value at the time of the withdrawal request? If it is at the current value and people are trying to withdraw R1 million, I can imagine the ire when they lose 5% - 6% due to the delay.

That is irrelevant as members put BTC in and get BTC out... It's up to them to convert to fiat. MTI doesn't pay out ZAR/Dollar/Pula/whatever.

If you give someone one sheep and it's worth R5000 at that point and a week later they give you that sheep back and it's now worth R4000 it's your loss... They still gave you "a sheep" back.

If I wanted to withdraw from MTI into my Luno wallet for the purposes of cashing out to ZAR, for instance, 5 bitcoin valued at R300 000 per bitcoin at the time of withdrawal, and due to delays of over a week, by the time that I receive my bitcoin, it is only valued at R250 000 per bitcoin, I would be mightily peeved.

But I get your point - they are still paying out in bitcoin, so it's your problem what the ZAR value is at the time that you receive it. Blonde moment when I asked the question. Need my second cup of coffee...
