I was hoping for an online portal that one could point people to instead of going "I phoned the copshop... it's legit" because then they just go "I don't believe you"...

which is why proper cold storage can only be accessed by multiple people with multiple keys/key fragments that have to coordinate at the same time

JS looks softer than the average person though, unless he has a serious S&M fetish we don't know about I don't see him lasting long at all

It's a good point, I guess it is perhaps a better question to ask the SAPS should you call the station? They should be able to offer some sort of proof on this, not sure if that would require your visiting a police station though?

I doubt these guys are that sophisticated. To them cold storage is an old Iphone 4 with the sim taken out, or maybe (and this is a big maybe) something like a Ledger Nano.

100% agreed, just throwing it out there for any MTI plebs that may come across this to show what cold storage actually means in the real world:

- no one person can access it or steal it, ever
- usually at least three people required
- those three people are physically in different locations/countries most of the time to reduce the risk of all three being kidnapped / tortured / what-not
- the actual wallet lives on a device that is in a secure vault facility with 24/7 security guards / alarms / etc and is not connected to any form of network
