To all MTI members still hanging in there:

Please get the hell out of this thing people. Waiting yet another day may be a day to late and believe me, THAT will change your life!

Take this from me, someone who lost both our pension pay-outs back in 2012 equaling to R1.4m and which would have grown to R1.7m at the time of its implosion in any regulated South African investment bank account had we invested more wisely.

We weren't caught in an obvious Ponzi like MTI, it was caught in a 20 year run Ponzi disguised as a Hedge Fund with a mere 2 percent more return that other Hedge Funds.

We had no prior warning to save my stupid-ass, so count yourself extremely lucky for getting advance warning from genuinely caring people taking the time promoting this thread and hopefully, just maybe save your dumb-ass!

Another good read and warning from someone with lots of experience in exposing Ponzi’s:

So the cult members are now in Jim Jones mode. Here is Eric Venter from Ontbytsake on DSTV calling people rats for abandoning MTI.
Eric promotes and defends illegal activity. Sies.
Let me explain it to you because you seem to not understand. Financial services need to be licensed immaterial of payment type.
AS an example, you are saying that DSTV does not need a license if you pay them with bitcoin.

Some advice, don't be a drol. Get you bitcoin out now!

I blocked them all one by one.
just block or do you "report" as well on linkedin?

if I was going through that effort I would report every account to LinkedIn as criminal activity or something with links to the regulator statements etc

that way LinkedIn kills their profile completely ... if they agree with your info

Using Google to check BTC price shows the massive premium we pay in ZA - see ZAR prices here:
Google tends to show the price without caring about bids/asks in the actual market i.e. you can expect to pay more than that price on literally any exchange in the world

I mean we do pay a premium for ZARBTC for sure, but Google's price is not "real" for any market actually

How do we pay a premium?

In SA it seems we pay/get almost 5% premium to go direct from ZAR to BTC or BTC to ZAR.

Very useful if you happen to be an exporter who can arrange to be paid in BTC (5% bonsela).

There are businesses like Shiftly that exist purely to take advantage of this arbitrage opportunity.

I feel quite dumb for asking questions constantly but I'm not into the whole crypto-trading thing at all.

So these numb-nuts heading up MTI must certainly realise that the jig will be up pretty soon. They know it is a scam even if the lemmings don't. They also know that the FSCA and various other authorities are on to them, and I'd imagine that they can't seriously believe that they can carry this on for much longer. So why are they still taking deposits? That suggests to me that they have a place to stash them that they believe that the authorities can't touch.

They seem to have a history of scams associated with cryptocurrency. Perhaps this is because if you have a bank account, it can be frozen, but the authorities can't easily "freeze" your crypto-wallet. Am I understanding this correctly?

So when the jig finally is up, they will have secreted the bitcoin somewhere, tell the authorities "sorry we lost it all" and then once the dust has settled, go and start using their stolen BTC to kick-start whatever new scam they are going to come up with next?

I only report the profile if they are dumbass enough to contact me.
But yes its an effort and looking for an easy way...

That is exactly what they did from BTC Global to MTI. At this point, they're likely taking on new investors and payments as it buys them time for their exit. The bigger the thing grows, the harder the crash, but the longer it takes to get to that breaking-point.

ZARBTC is less liquid than USDBTC, you can only buy at the price someone else is willing to sell for = premium when they are holding out for higher prices and there aren't many other offers

that's why arbitrage exists

Correct although arbitrage is minimal nowadays.
