Can I tell everyone, I have really enjoyed reading from around page 7 of this thread. It has been super entertaining, and the level of investigation and research here has been awesome. Signed up to MyBroadband because of it.
Basically found this because I have a friend that shared on Facebook at the beginning of June that she was "excited" about the opportunity, and she was "taking the plunge" to invest in bitcoin MTI etc etc. The typical message one would see when people share this.
What was irritating was that it was actually quite difficult to find negative news on this. I was also disappointed at Medium . com since they allowed a crappy article written by MTI themselves to appear on their site, giving them "credibility" for those doing a casual browse for more information. And it was blatantly a Ponzi when you look at the website. People really don't seem very clued up on how to ID these things, and I think a lot of people are driven to the allure of "fast cash", esp now during Corona.
What I also found pretty tragic was that I tried to report this to the FSCA (with a follow up) immediately. No response. Also contacted SAICA (felt that as a CA, SAICA would be a good place to try). They just said, "not our problem, try the FSCA". Dropped an email to CapeTalk (worth a try I thought). Nothing from them either.
Basically, a waste of time trying to do anything about these things, and once it all crumbles to the ground, the scammers run, the last suckers to join lose all their money, and those that "scored" will likely end up having to return their ill-gotten gains. So these things are just going to keep happening
All very frustrating, but thanks for the entertainment on the thread. Read my kindle a lot less this weekend because of this rabbit hole
