Yeah it’s very upsetting

I remember reading about the mortifying experiences James Hetfield from Metallica had as a child in his church.

They were Christian scientists...those who believe only God must cure without assistance from medicine or healthcare providers.

So one day in his Sunday school a girl stood up and gave her testimony about God healing her broken arm. He said that he stared in horror at the twisted shape her arm had taken, yet she believed her arm looked exactly as before.

So I have family members who have bought ridiculous cars, bling, etc with their mti “yield” telling us how God has provided for them in their time of need...and every time they show us how beautiful their newest piece of unnecessary bs is, all I can see are mangled arms and old people’s pensions.

It’s come to a point now where I am not sure if I want to allow them into our house anymore, although I know (you have to know these people to get it) they believe it’s legit. Honestly, I obviously want justice to be served and reality to sink in, but those 2 aspects are somehow not the main reasons I cant stand to be around them. It’s the chilling, stomach churning horror story of being around the bling they bought with other’s last-hope money. The “mangled arms” they refer to as their “blessings from God”
I have never read or heard my feelings described so succinctly as this piece. "...chilling, stomach churning horror story of ... 'mangled arms' they refer to as their blessings from God'".
That lurch you get after you've pointed out suicides and broken families and the new convert bleats, "It's their choice - they knew the risks."

It's exactly for this sort of reason that I've become fully aware of the fact that morality is completely divorced from religion, irrespective of how much the religious would like to think/believe that morality is as a result of or contingent upon religion. Things can be determined to be right or wrong based entirely on reason, not via divine instruction. But no, people are too damn intellectually lazy to actually think and hash things out..instead it's just so much easier for them to believe that there is something else out there that makes all the rules.
Without people spending the time to improve their reasoning skills and delving into the absolutely extraordinary and fascinating field of morality and ethics, they simply are not equipped to comprehend that what they are doing by even getting involved with things like MTI is just so deeply, deeply wrong.

I'm also at that point where I no longer have any time for anyone who gets involved with MTI, especially when the warning signs have been pointed out repeatedly and when the morality of the situation has been discussed and they still choose to get involved for their own narcissistic reasons. Clearly anyone who gets involved is either incompetent, or lacks the integrity and moral judgement that others can rely upon.

For a long time I couldn't understand how on Earth someone like Trump could possibly win an election, but this whole MTI saga has truly opened my eyes as to just how ill-equipped people are to make rational decisions.

What's very interesting for me is that many crypto enthusiasts I know are very "anti establishment" so whenever discussions around any form of regulation in the crypto space happen they are met with a LOT of resistance.

They are inclined to say things like "if people are dumb they must learn the hard way"... But the very fact that there are plenty people that are morally bankrupt and will pull in their friends and family and just say stuff like "it's a risk so don't put in what you can't afford to lose" means we NEED rules/laws to protect the lazy or stupid or gullible or naive people out there.

You cannot regulate crypto, which is fine... BUT you can regulate people like MTI that are taking "investments" in BTC and "paying dividends". For me, the bottom line is they are taking in assets (reportedly BILLIONS of Rands worth) and multiplying them. The regulatory bodies SHOULD be able to go to them and say "prove it within 7 days or go to jail". This "only partially complied" thing that MTI have done should have them immediately shutdown, under threat of imprisonment, until such time as they provide REAL proof... not this edited nonsense.

Makes my blood boil to see comments like this.

According to the leaked data this Nico Boshoff put in ~R360 000 and made R 9 401 710 of which he has already withdrawn at least R 7 727 387

Basically the guy stated some MTI facts and this reply was:
Sorry old pal, in love, you are now taking it too far. Take note that MTI corporate is definitely reading this thread of discussions. I'm actually asking that you remove all your accusations. It is 100% assumptions and you are definitely going to get in trouble if you leave it here. I want to suggest you contact Cheri Marks to get the truth before you comment hear say stuff. You are a member of Shofar Church and what are you now trying to live out in public? All of us here know that the truth sets you free. You are referring to 100% (lies) propaganda, and also where the public can see it. Please old pal, take it off line. It doesn't do your profile any good. Be still for a moment and count to 10.

Regulating crypto has nothing to do with shutting down scams. Crypto regulation usually comes in the form of making selling and buying crypto online or to the public without a license a crime, requiring ID/bank statements/proof of residence to buy crypto, putting limits on how much you can buy and sell, monitoring all transactions in the name of "money laundering prevention" etc and it would just get worse from there where they will eventually start taxing the crap out of everyone with a bitcoin wallet. Nobody wants this.

There are plenty of rules already against Ponzi/Pyramid schemes, rules about companies providing financial services actually needing a license, rules about having to pay taxes, rules about how much interest you can legally promise investors, rules about transparency and plenty more.
MTI is most certainly guilty of many crimes under current laws, it's just that the government is sitting on their ass instead of enforcing them...

You are 100% right about those involved lacking ANy ability To divorce themselves from financial gain and display any sign of moral judgement. I Think , for me , it is this sign of wreckless abandonment driven by financial greed, smothered with large Dollops of " THey knew what they were getting themselves into ...I Owe nobody a damn thing ", that fuels my anger of this scheme. Oh 100%. Just listen to what Cheri says in that training video..."South Africans love a conspiracy..the banks want our money"...
She fully knows that people believe that crap, that it is crap, and is now using it to her full advantage.

To be quite honest, 2020 has been such an incredibly important year for me...a real eye opener. This whole pandemic, and then this MTI thing, it really has made people show their true colours.
It's been an extreme but very revealing test as to which people actually give a damn about others and have the empathy to endure a tiny bit of discomfort in order to help others, and then who are willing to enrich themselves either at the expense of others or with total disregard for others.

Even in the states it takes years to get to these guys.

Sorry but BitMEX is a legitimate operation (as in they run an actual exchange, not a fake one). Just because they don't want to bow down to overreaching government demands and hand over user data does not in any way shape or form place them anywhere near the scamming scum that is MTI.

Definitely please do it.
Name suggestions?

Since its going to cover a lot more than MTI it should be something generic we can use for all these kinda scams and information about the scammers.

Perhaps something like duediligence. ?

I thought of making a website to archive the data in this thread. There is a ton of useful information getting lost in conversation. I realized how huge in scope it is, because of the many different scams, different players involved. Its pretty much too much work for one person to do. So I was thinking of creating a wiki around all this data. Would anyone be interested in contributing to a wiki around all these scammers and their scams?
Yes please.

Im happy to put my money where my mouth is and I would encourage others to also contribute for this worthy cause. If my contribution can assist that others dont get scammed that will be amazing.

Cement the names in STONE of these career ponzi scum so the internet can judge them for what they are

I'm not talking regulating the entire crypto space... Just "investment" companies like this.

I do get what you say about the existing rules around Ponzi/Pyramid schemes. But if Crypto assets were explicitly brought in it would take away the current wiggle room that these people try and use. But again, even if it were there I'm not sure the governing bodies would react fast enough. It boggles my mind that we have a company that has taken in over Three BILLION Rands worth of crypto and it's taking loooooong to either make them prove themselves legitimate or shut them down.

Scam Busters would have been great...but there is already a number of sites on the internet with that name.
