There seems to be a couple of fixes. One that you've mentioned, the other...
"Edit: I fixed it. I had to go in recovery (Clockwork) go to 'Mounts and Storage' then select 'format system' and then I re-installed MIUI and everything works perfectly. "
another
"Re-flash instructions:
take MIUI off your SD
RE-download MIUI
place on SD card (internal)
Boot into recovery
FORMAT-system, data, and cache
Wipe dalvik
wipe cache partition
flash miui
fix permissions
reboot
I recommend not using Titanium, thats where your problems come in. If you must use Titanium instead of the miui backup app, then restore one app at a time. Should not have had to restore anything if you were already on miui.
Future Update instructions:
Wipe dalvik
wipe cache partition
format system
flash update
fix permissions
reboot
This method you will not have to restore apps or settings. (unless MAJOR changes in framework have been made I dont recommend wipe data/factory reset. Restoring is where your problems sneek in. Try using the MIUI Backup app if you must wipe data/factory reset. It seems to be a lot safer , not restoring things it shouldnt.)
If you are using the stock MIUI rom then you ''should'' be able to Update Friday via the Updater .
Hope this helps (Trust me Titanium is the culprit!) Thanks for posting some info to back-up your findings, would make it easier if we all could learn to post a log.
I also recommend just syncing your contacts with google. That way you dont have to restore contacts. Even when using the MIUI backup app, make sure you uncheck contact backup."
When I get a chance sometime later on in the week, I'll give it another bash and Yes, I am using Titanium.
