Has it been sorted out Ockie ?

No. I have downloaded a stock rom now from XDA to see if that works...but dont know how to do it. It is a freakking RAR file and not a .zip as the MIUI rom???? Now I read something about RSD lite that must be used or something. I am about to cry!!!!

I think OC is drowning his sorrows in beer. :p

It is not funny meneer. I dont know what to do now. I have downloaded this RSD thing but dont really know how to use it. :-( My phone is fcked!!! I should never have tried this!!!!!

A .rar file is just another type of compressed file. I don't know though whether it would work.

Did you wipe all your caches before trying to load the ROM?

*Download 7zip, it can open RAR files.

mmmm I think I figured it out. Unzipped the RAR file....inside was a SBF file that Motorola RSD software wants. Selected it...clicked start and now on my phone it shows "SW Update in Progress"

Please please please gods above let this work...I swear I will be a good little gay boy if this works I SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!

I'm bleak, I thought Ockie was about to become the regular poster in this group.

LET DOWN

I think Booze + flashing caused permanent brain damage(Now have a primordial fear of flashing), dont expect him in here soon, well unless someone with a Defy can go help him, or flash his phone for him.

Unfortunately my knowledge with Defy = limited so not very helpful to the full extend.

I would have loved to try MIUI. Looks great....but well...with last yesterday's experience....mmm well...as we say in Afrikaans....Ek het my gat letterlik f@kkin ys koud geskrik!

I really thought my phone is done for and I might as well throw it in the trash now. I wont be attempting this again. It just aint worth bricking me phone. Just thinking about it again makes my tummy turn upside down again.

Anyways....just glad I got my phone to boot up again.

Go to settings -> then application -> manage applications -> running applications -> click on media storage, and clear data, this should fix it.

I did try that but it didn't work. Do I need to reformat my sd card?

Btw, I managed to reload CM7 onto the phone with no hassles.

Don't think it has to do with the SD card... unless you running ext4 or something. Have you tried Google?

There seems to be a couple of fixes. One that you've mentioned, the other...

"Edit: I fixed it. I had to go in recovery (Clockwork) go to 'Mounts and Storage' then select 'format system' and then I re-installed MIUI and everything works perfectly. "

another

"Re-flash instructions:
take MIUI off your SD
RE-download MIUI
place on SD card (internal)
Boot into recovery
FORMAT-system, data, and cache
Wipe dalvik
wipe cache partition
flash miui
fix permissions
reboot
I recommend not using Titanium, thats where your problems come in. If you must use Titanium instead of the miui backup app, then restore one app at a time. Should not have had to restore anything if you were already on miui.

Future Update instructions:
Wipe dalvik
wipe cache partition
format system
flash update
fix permissions
reboot
This method you will not have to restore apps or settings. (unless MAJOR changes in framework have been made I dont recommend wipe data/factory reset. Restoring is where your problems sneek in. Try using the MIUI Backup app if you must wipe data/factory reset. It seems to be a lot safer , not restoring things it shouldnt.)
If you are using the stock MIUI rom then you ''should'' be able to Update Friday via the Updater .

Hope this helps (Trust me Titanium is the culprit!) Thanks for posting some info to back-up your findings, would make it easier if we all could learn to post a log.

I also recommend just syncing your contacts with google. That way you dont have to restore contacts. Even when using the MIUI backup app, make sure you uncheck contact backup."

When I get a chance sometime later on in the week, I'll give it another bash and Yes, I am using Titanium.
