I went from Darkys 10.1 to MIUI. Would never go back to Darkys. MIUI is amazing! Download the zip and flash it using CWM.

Application menu please Elmentals .

Long press on the background till you get a screen that looks like below
Then just drag a folder widget onto the screen.

attachment.php

Once you have an icon named folder you can just click on it and it will open, on the top left you can select edit.

attachment.php

This will allow you to change the sort order also rename it example Menu or whatever you want.

attachment.php

Simply drag the Folder icon into your bottom tray

attachment.php

and you are ready to drag and drop apps from your screens into it

attachment.php

Then all you need to do is tap on it to get your new App menu, with all the applications you draged into it.

Been running this rom for a month(since the day after I got my phone :p)
flashing the desire hd is a pain but once clockwork is installed then its really simple.
I really dont like the lack of app drawer by default, it reminds me of the iphone and that was something I didnt like about it.
I just replaced the default launcher with golauncher and its really perfect now. Launcherpro is also a good alternative.

On my main phone(HD) now only 3 weeks, on the dev phone on and off over 5 months, but then the dev phone keeps on swapping ROMs all the time. 1.7 was not so stable in my view, only ever since 1.8 did it become stable enough for me to port my Desire HD to MIUI.

I used also Launcher pro and SPB Shell 3d with MIUI on my dev phone but ever since I started my fake App draw I dont really need a App draw or other launchers anymore.

What about a detailed FAQ for us dummies here? I would like to go this route but need a step by step guide of sorts.

A ROM out for the SGS2 now? Last time I checked there wasn't one available.

Like The_Unnamed said the 1st day will be less as you need to retrain the battery. You can clear battery stats using Clockwork recovery mod if you have no luck after 3 full cycle charges. To do this, boot into recovery, go to [Advance] and select [Wipe Battery stats] Its best to do this at full charge.

Also

One of the biggest battery drains is the Radio vs interface files (RIL). MIUI as with any ROM you find online, will have a generic set, if you really want to get into tweaking your phone you can start flashing Radio's and the corresponding RIL's but this is also where the danger lies. Unlike simple ROM flashing you have a bigger chance to brick your phone when flashing the wrong radios.

If you post your Phone and where you got it we might be able to help you get the best set that pose the least amount of risk.

Example: my DHD From Vodacom, on plain MIUI only had about 1 day of charge and bad voice quality. I am now on Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 and get about 2.5 days on a single charge, and voice + data is perfect.

The Plain Desire was easier as the generic European radio works like a charm for SA Phones: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1252942/desire_radio.zip from my dropbox 11 MB. (Only do this when you use the US or China MIUI roms, AU and EU roms have it in already)

I think best advice for you is to wait for SGS 2 USA release.

The US MIUI ROM's are normally well build and also let them test it for you 1st.

Finally a dedicated thread! Its my MIUI one week anniversary today  haha. Iv already forgotten what touchwiz looks like!

For noobs like me who have never flashed a thing before, or who are coming from other roms, I would suggest using galnet MIUI. It seems to have the best user support, and the devs are always ready to answer your questions and help you out. Galnet MIUI also officially supports the Samsung Galaxy S II. They also provide the best guide for newcomers! http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk

Check out this guide on how to flash : http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk/content/forum/index.php?topic=875.0

Im currently using Twooey2. There is also twooey3(newer version) and then theres Chameleon (latest version but still in RC phase of development).

Personally I think Galnet's theme is CRAP, so all i did was download the stock MIUI theme - its way nicer IMO. But then again theres a million other amazing themes out there and soon you will find yourself mixing and matching and creating your own custom theme.

Battery Life : first two days for me were horrible. Thereafter it improved allowing me to get a full days use. Remember to calibrate your battery after flashing! Guide on how to calibrate : http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-development/97159-what-miui-3.html - see the THIRD post. You can also use this app from the market - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&feature=search_result

Themes - http://forums.miuiandroid.com/forumdisplay.php?31-Theme-Releases
http://miuithemes.com
Also check XDA, and search google.

App Drawer - there is no app drawer. but as previously mentioned, you can create a folder, fill it with all your apps, and then add it to the dock. Another nice thing with Galnets MIUI is the ability to use the Touchwiz launcher (if you have a samsung) if you really want to. Other MIUI variants may also be able to do this though, im not entirely sure!
