Android a modular, from the dailer to the radio to the launcher, its all modules

Flashing any ROM, just replaces the modules that is included in that ROM, so normally it wont stuff around with the apps that is installed, for that you need to do a factory reset. I for example went from CM 7.0 to MIUI UK to MIUI US, CM7.1 and then MIUI Au without re-installing all my apps. Some apps tend to store data where its not suppose to and they sometimes die and need to be reinstalled.

With that being said, if its your primary phone, back-up and then flash always. At least that way you know you wont lose anything.

For those of you who have tried both Galnet and US, which did you prefer and why?

What were your reasons for moving and has the move fixed your issues?

I recently upgraded my one contract and got an iPhone 4 on it. It's not all that bad to use on a daily basis, to be honest. I got a TwinCall SIM option from VC and use my SGS and I4 as the mood hits me. There are many many many quality apps in the iTunes App Store. More so than Android, I have to (regrettably) admit. Still, you have a lot more freedom to change the look and feel of your Android device than you do an iPhone.
Agreed, the iphone app devs are better than android by quite a bit.
Im sure this will change though. I still prefer the android and have used both for quite a while.

Where do you get that mod? Running Chameleon RC2 i didn't have that option.
Might've been on Chameleon RC1 still... Or even one of the betas. I've been through so many ROMs that I can't remember which one had which features. :p But I promise you it was there.

I know the feeling. Every 3 days having a new ROM kind of gets confusing :p.

Galnet has just announced that all public users will no longer have access to beta and RC releases. They will only have access to final versions, and will be given no ETA on when these will be made available. To be in the loop, you need to be a paying user, or what they call, "a groupie".

Edit: its been a busy day over at the galnet forums. Seems like the main dev is having some personal issues etc with health and family. The bottom line is, they will still be releasing final versions of the rom to the public, which to most people is all that matters.

Finally got around to flashing! When I first tried flashing my Desire became stuck on the HTC boot screen and wouldn't go further. I thought I had bricked my phone! luckily I just needed to wipe data again and on reboot there was the MIUI screen :D

Here's my home screen - still playing around with it:

I've a question tho: when I try find more items to customize, I get a lot of Asian fonts and very little English. My phone was bought in Singapore, is there a way to setup location? Not sure what region my phone is set to either and I haven't found a way yet to set location.

Great rom! Tried CM but went straight back to MIUI after a few minutes :)

Normally this would relate to the English translation/rom files you used?

MIUI.us released 1.9.9 the other day. The Changelog is posted on the main page.
Update was painless with no data loss.

I downloaded the MIUI.us from within ClockWork and it didn't give me any options for language.

edit: I'll update to 1.9.9 to see if anything changes for me.

Then its odd, as I also run MIUI.us and the only none english I see is with the Theme names, the rest is all in English.

Yea thats what I was referring to, amongst other customisation items (wallpaper, lock screen). Glad to know it's not just me

If you are referring to when you click on "online/cloud themes" or online bootanimations, wallpapers etc then yes its normal to have chinese writing.

Rather google for themes and wallpapers-you find much better stuff!

Anybody using 1.9.9? Bugs? I'm still on 1.9.2.

For those who are using MIUI US or MIUIAndroid with a galaxy s, are you able to do a nandroid backup? I'm not able to,along with many other users that iv seen on the forums....anyways its solved by flashing a different kernel.

Currently I'm using neo9reduxv5 by Zach-its brilliant :) Far smoother than the stock kernel, and has all the other tweaky extras that come with some kernels these days.
