MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

I honestly don't agree. I think the fame and hype around some fighters (Sugar, Izzy, Connor) can sometimes prove to be a thorn because when they lose it somehow is a bigger deal than when another fighter loses.

You don't see people claiming Ortega is overrated because he lost to a relatively unknown guy? Or is Volk overrated when he lost to Topuria..

It is the game man, Sugar is a phenomenal fighter, but Merab had his number and honestly Sugar looked out of it. He absolutely dismantled Merab's partner a year ago, so no reason to think he can't handle a wrestler.
but thats exactly it... these guys get hyped up as "elite"

when they look down on their opponents who end up making them look easy that just makes the argument an easy one.

This is MMA after all... kickboxing and decent TDD is not MMA

As for dismantling Aljo... early stoppage tbh, The ref literally said "move", waited for him to move and then called a TKO

The robbery against Petr Yan is also another case to be made for the Dana White Privilege. Don't get me started on all the cheating in that fight.

All this to say... overrated, can crusher... got 2 favours against Yan and Aljo. Got a freebie against Chito (who is also overrated IMO) and then a "legend starts to grow")

not as good as advertised = overrated

I think DDP should fight Strickland next, sort out the doubters of their first fight and then it plays nicely into the narrative of beating Perreira's arch nemesis Izzy and his training partner Sean. Then the fight will be a massive draw and DDP can get paid handsomely. I think they should also try and get this fight to Africa.

IF DDP can pull of those two wins, he will be considered one the best to do it at 185. Period.

Or beat Strickland, go up to 205 and take a shot at champ champ status, but I feel like he has an advantage if Perreira comes down to 185.

Agree with Strickland comment.
They looking at building a temporary roof over Cape Town stadium to host a PPV.

Yeah let DDP fight Sean around Jan-Feb in Vegas and then do the big Africa fight around mid-end 2025. Gives them enough time to get everything ready BUT if DDP loses, those plans are fcked. I don't think they will risk their first Africa event. I think DDP most likely sits around for 8-10 months until venue is ready.

Putting a roof on that stadium is stupid and a waste of money. That's not the kind of stadia you want to watch combat sports in. Furthermore, how are they going to fill that space at the prices we see for a UFC ticket?

I think DDP will 1st have to sort out the winner of Khamzat and RW before moving up...

different case if there is no clear #1 contender

so potentially 2 fights to double champ.

That said. Alex will have to beat rountree (likley) but ankalaev is definitely his next fight after that.

Fight night Paris is today at sane hours. Main card starts at 21:00 and prelims start at 18:00

BSD vs Moicano
Ivanov vs Allen

Such a slap in the face for such a legend! Reminds me on the time where Nickal was set up as a main card fighter ahead of Du Plessis - DDP spoke up and said he would fight Nickal sommer right there and then - UFC moved him to main card promptly!
main bout of the prelim aint too bad... but anything below i reckon is a foot out the door... unless you put in a bonus worthy performance

Khalil unbelievable heart and had some success in the first two rounds but Poatan is something else....
Like that line in The Terminator: "It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with... and it absolutely will not stop." lol

YOSSOSS! Pereira dish out a beating there in round 4. I was feeling really sorry for Roundtree towards the end

Time for Wonderboy to leave the gloves in the octagon? He is in his 40s, one of my favourites fighters when I got into the sport. Hate to see him fade away with losses just would not do his career justice to go out that way.

Poatan, that was a master class.
