Sean challenged him to go toe to toe. Challenged him to leave the grappling game at home.

However, post fight interview Dricus did say opportunities to grapple never presented themselves.

No need to adjust if you’re clearly getting ahead. Didn’t look like he was looking for the takedown. The seemed by opportunity.
 
I also don't think I've seen Dricus in better physical condition. He was shredded and his vascularity was better than it's ever been.

Yup a better version of Dricus for sure.
He did also make the point somewhere in the build up that after watching Strickland fight Costa, he sees the exact same fighter.

Thing is, I don't think Strickland can make much adjustment. This is the fighter he is and when coming up against a fighter like Dricus who is unfazed by the constant pressure, he's going to come up short.
 
Yeah. Sean's a one tricky pony. Very one dimensional fighter. Tough as nails, with a destructive jab, super fit too, moves well, hard to hit but no kicking or grappling game to talk of.

Dricus is the polar opposite.

Anyway, Khamzat likely to be Dricus next opponent. Totally different ball game. Much more challenging fight/fighter. As a neutral I'm far more worried about him than Sean. Guys 14 and 0 with 6 takedowns and 6 knockouts. Like Dricus, Khamzat has many ways to beat you, where Strickland relies heavily on out punching/out jabbing his opponents.

Should be a great fight.

Also depends which Khamzat shows up.
He's run through most of his opponents but got exposed in the Burns fight, there was a legit case for Gilbert taking that one.

Chimaev also does an exceptional pace, can he do it for 5?

Yeah, first 2 rounds will be very tough but I feel the longer the fight goes on the more DDP will have the upper hand. This will be one of the biggest fights of the year alongside Tom and Jones.
 
Honestly I don't see DDP beating either Khamzat or Alex, but I hope to be wrong.

If we rewind in this thread most people other than myself and I think it was @ShloshMalosh said Dricus would make a mark in the rankings. The general consensus here was Dricus wouldn’t even crack the top 10.

Alex with his left hook is a concern. Khamzat is less of a worry. Just look what Weili did to Suarez with heart and brute strength. I expect Dricus to do the same.

Looking forward to the fight. Always a better watch when you have a bit of doubt of the winner.

Yea look I'm super keen to see it. I just don't know that DDP has the overall skills to beat those guys.

Then again, he did beat Whittaker and Adesanya so who knows.
