Also my take. A bit like the WC and people running away from the EC and problems, taking the problems with them, not realizing they ARE the problem. There is a reason the DA became known as the ANC-lite.

Wonder if Gwen Ngwenya will rise to the top in this situation. It's definitely her "faction" that was unhappy with Maimane.

And five years from now she will realise that the DA is not the right vehicle to carry her vision forward, I no longer trust these people.

She's black, so she won't. The DA sampled blacks and it didn't really work out - the real DA owners will take charge now.

AFAIK, the internal review, which was just published recommended the CEO step down - he might have pre-emptively stepped down after the poor 2019 performance.

It's amazing how many journalists hate accountability yet they cry out for it.

Seems like the media did over-hype the Steenhuisen bit. He had to automatically step down as he was Chief Whip under Maimane and Maimane's reign as leader came to and end and so did his reign as Chief Whip.

His Tweet yesterday after Maimane and Trollip's exits seemed to indicate that he will remain a member of the DA. He will probably get one of the major leadership posts when the DA elects and could be in contest for leadership as well.

Strategically though, it may not be a good move from DA to make him their leader. They should ideally go with Madikizela or Winde to maintain Western Cape.

DA put all in on the a Gupta stooge beating CR for the ANC nomination and when CR won a decade of work went down the drain.

But she never kissed the others mos? they were just weak, Mamphele is the only one with a valid case against Zille.
