Did you read her tweet and take the time to read her published article explaining what she tried to say about colonialism in 140 characters? .

Honestly, it's the same as that Masina troll backtracking on the close the Durban harbour tweet by saying it was metaphor and bullshit.

This dinosaur muppet should have known better than to show her true colours so openly.

It all comes down to race. Here, Twitter and in the DA.

Yeah, but the DA did that to themselves by rising to the race baiting of the ANC/EFF instead of running a proper policy race (I mean policy election campaign...).

Exactly! They who voted for this dinosaur need the fleas of a 1,000 disease infested camels to breed in their orifices! Wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a new party develop as a breakaway from the DA. What they will be left with is colonialism.

I think we have reached peak saltiness. Why a new party when you can just go back to the ANC and join up with old comrades Ramaphosa,, Gordhan and co

There was no point because the old guard brings in all the money, the traditional DA donor wanted Mmusi out. A party with no funding dies..
I think you are wrong. Old guard has all their land taken, flats confiscated, money stolen and they are practically destitute - I doubt they have any money left after all this.

I don't necessarily agree with them but how do you see the DA growing beyond the WC looking and the current developments? I am failing to see the strategy going forward.

Lest people forget, It was the Madam who promoted Maimane, Lindiwe and Mbali Ntuli. I think we all understand what was the plan, the DA wanted growth, they have already reached the ceiling in their traditional voter base, growth was going to come from the black populace, hence the new, vibrant young faces of the DA. That project worked very well for Zille, she was accompanied everywhere by the new faces of the new DA and people were slowly changing their perceptions of the DA.

Now since all that has been abandoned what is the plan of growing the party?

I hear you and don't have all the answers. It is gonna take some serious soul searching by the DA to get things right again. IMO they do need to elect another black leader and encourage and bring through more black people in positions of power if they want the black vote. Though I could be wrong and middle class black voters might be ready to vote for a white face.

Remember the DA/DP has always been a one man one vote party. During the apartheid years they campaigned for this. It is only through the ANC's vilification of the DA that they have become the white party, when that has never been what they represented.

This could all be undone though if there is a split and another party is formed.

He tries too hard, saw himself as the Obama of Soweto... He isn't! He is just a Pastor...and the DA turned him into pasta...

He had the support of a lot of people when Zuma was in power. It was after CR came in that he seemed to lose the support of certain DA factions.

Honestly though, I reckon that CR will also make Zille look bad. She also had to deal with Zuma for the majority of her tenure which also helped the DA's growth.

Zuma was a blessing in disguise for the DA and now he's gone.

More resignations on the cards in the next few days... Weeks, the so-called black caucus may actually walk out entirely... Athol has balls, Mmusi has balls, Herman has balls... The DA will lose all the gains just to have Zille back, Zille who embraced colonialism and worked with the racist IRR...

Oh my word, Zille never embraced colonialism. Do you always drink the ANC kool aid like a mindless slave?

She said there were parts of colonialism that weren't all bad.
Like roads, schools, train tracks, libraries, etc, etc. Or do you think that those things were bad?

Musi was caught with his hand in the sate capture jar. Blame Colonialism.
But he is probably scared there is more digging done.
OR maybe he is just tired of politics, easier to get money being a pastor.
Spray a bit of doom and get rich or preach about satanists at haloween.

DA really shooting itself in the foot. 1st Mashaba, then Maimane and now Trollip, does not inspire much faith in the party. The cracks have been showing for a while from all the in fighting.

Lol, "racist IRR” , you obviously do not know anything about the IRR or their history.

I do think DA supporters would vote for a white leader, they voted for Zille after all.

I just don't see how they are going to overcome the trust issues that are going to emerge out of this. A black leader with Zille in the background is going to be treated with suspicion and would be seen as another puppet. A white leader would further entrench the notion that the whites are back to reclaim their party, it is a massive dilemma.

The tragic part is that this implosion of the DA is bad for our democracy and bad for the country. They could have handled things much better, but I guess it just shows that there was too much at stake and either faction was prepared to do whatever it takes and deal with the consequences later.

Voting for the FF+ as a white person is like shooting yourself in the foot.
potentially true, although voting for the DA in the last election, as a white person, was shooting yourself in both feet

seems not voting for them got the message heard, just look at the spring cleaning happening right now

Haven't followed the entire story but I assume Maiman, Trollip and Mashaba all resigned from their respective positions but are still part of the DA? Saw Maimane's statement so I assume he will leave soon although Trollip was more diplomatic so I assume he will stay on, no idea about Mashaba.

Yeah as you say the only thing this has accomplished is that Democracy loses, as we need a strong opposition to keep the ANC in line. I supported Zille when she was leader but preferred Mmusi in charge.

I do think that people overreacted to Zille's return though, I mean Mashaba resigning because of it was just pathetic. Zille used to house umkhonto we sizwe during apartheid for goodness sake. She might have a differing opinion to Mashaba but she's certainly no enemy.
