What will happen when mnp comes into play the 10 noV? Who will switch and who is gonna stay put and see if their networks improve with the new "competition" effect into play? Personally, i am staying put for the time being

To MNP or not to MNP ...........

Well my contract expires on 3 Nov and I am looking at my options ........ I do also have a massive chip on my shoulder courtesy of Vodacom Billing / Data fiasco. They seem to have forgotten that it is cheaper to retain a customer than to gain a new one.

I might hold out till December if there are no real deals in the market.

that way i see it, we are not gonna see a price war develop. If new prices will be implemented, all networks already decided on them, and chances are 90-10 that they would all be pretty much very near each other anyhow. so i say, lets waait maybe we will be surprised with our socks blown off, and maybe it will just be business as usual

I'm happy on Vodacom for now, halfway through a contract anyway.

I'm definetly going to port my Vodacom cell number...
not sure where to though, either Virgin or MTN ... only for coverage reasons though - nothing to do with prices..

I will defenitely port to vodacom, just because the meet my needs for the type of user I am. I really hope they will let go of this nonsens to force a new starterpack down your throat if you wanna buy a new phone, or they offer a lot of specials, but for new contracts only. Thats very stupid.

I am definitely moving from CellC…either to Vodacom or MTN…did not make my mind up yet. Main reason is coverage…Vodacom fine at our place…CellC drops calls all the time.

I will probs move too.
From VC to MTN. VC is expensive and proper service lacks IMO.
All the peeps I know that's on MTN have no problems, maybe at most the specific Service Provider, but not MTN per say. Coverage is also great.
Am taking my business elsewhere as VC does not value or appreciate customer loyalty.

The answer to the question would most probably depend a lot on the deals the cellular companies are going to offer for people to move to them.

I don't see much reason for them to pay a pile of monthly porting fees for a R100 pm contract.

On the other hand, I guess there might be a lot of sweetness built into the R500+ pm kind of deals.

It would also be interesting to see the deals being offered to retain current contracts.

I'll have to decide end of Jan next year...

My contract expired today. I am on hold as I type this to Vodacom 1-month notice.

My average spend was between 1 - 2k per month. I aim to be the first customer to port away from them, after that I will make it my mission to tell as many people as I can to do the same. I said at the time I was having technical and billing problems the it would cost them more in the long run if they ignore me.

I am very vindictive when I have been wronged, it brings out the worst in me.

I am still checking my diary to see if I have time to drag them to court. One way or another I will get satisfaction.

Would have cost them 2 or 3K in terms of the data service billing screwup, but they chose to refer to their right to bill for all traffic, useless or not.

So dear Vodacom, this is not the letter " ..I..", this is my middle finger extended.

That sure is a lot of spend... and still no resolution... sad, so so sad :(
I take it you never got any further apologies or at least attempts to have your matter resolved...

I know your story and I would do the exact same thing. My contract ended June, so just waiting for the 10th to come.
I don't understand though about why do you have to give notice if your contract ended?

Once your contract expires it automatically reverts to a month to month contract. You still have to give them a months notice.

Of course they ****ed me around sufficiently today to ensure that I am locked in for another month.

By the time they answered the phone the cancellations department had shut down shop for the weekend. They only work 9-5 Mon to Fri.

The hours are more flexible for signing up new lambs for the slaughter.
