Don't you bl**dy dare... More advertising punting cr@p that I neither want nor need; fueling the 'stuff' consumer society.

Also how about:
Advertising generates demand for a product in both those with the money and those without:
- Those with money simply load up their lives with more stuff which doesn't make them happy and is gently modifying the environment and climate.
- Those without money can borrow it, get into debt, and they are not happy.
- Those with a criminal bent will simply take the said article from of the groups of people above, possibly using violence.

Therefore it can been seen that Advertising is similtaneously responsible for resource depletion, climate modification, crime and consumer debt.

Ban advertising immediately.

Okay so maybe I was a little hasty in completely banning advertising ;)

But I suppose I choose to use this site, and the advertising is pretty unobtrusive, is for relevant services, and which I can choose to follow up if I want to.

Push advertising to a mobile device is the equivalent of spam email and junk paper mail. Browser popups and flashing banners are pretty much the same (but AdBlock and NoScript help a lot in this regard on a PC web browser). But on my mobile device the screen real estate is very limited to start with, and to have some of that co-opted for advertising would be sub-optimal.

I understand that advertising is a valid funding model. However in my world the customer is most important, and if the advertising annoys and drives the customers away then that is self defeating.

Also I maintain that much advertising is aimed at creating a demand for products we didn't know we needed before we saw the advert. Advertising is only a great revenue stream because its so effective at generating even greater revenue for the company that is advertising.
