Cool - so we can order all the porn we want now, and then when the bill comes, refuse to pay that portion or that number (Contract only), cos cellphone companies are charging us for illegal content, and then wait for the court case, and win.

However, the industry is in a particularly vulnerable position as Chetty says any private person could now place a complaint with the SA Police Service and get an order to stop the distribution of adult content.

Awesome! Looks like it might be a great opportunity for lobbying legal pressure on the people who sell porn. Pornography is destroying lives, marriages & families. It's time we show that we're sick of it! I'm very keen to place a complaint with SAPS against providers that are doing this. Now I got to find out how to go about it?

if porn is destroying someone's life, marriage or family may I suggest that someone seeks help, because it's most certainly not destroying mine, in fact I think I'll go get me some pr0n right now...

there's only one thing that should be changed/regulated about Internet and mobile porn - minors should not be able to access it

just my 2c :D

Who is this "we"? I certainly don't agree with you (assuming you're not joking). What gives you the right to dictate what other people view? The only porn that should be outlawed is non-consensual porn (child porn, beastiality, rape etc.).

Besides if you take away legal methods of obtaining porn people will just obtain it illegally

And also :

On a tiny itty-bitty phone screen? And have eyes like  for the rest of the day?

This reminds me of the green screens we've had for the first XT and AT class computers, if you stared at it for too long, your eyes goes all funny... :p

Antonio: one can debate either side of the issue but I am a firm believer that pornography in a negative way severely influences people on an individual & social basis.

Perdition: "we" refers to every person that is concerned about the adverse effects that pornography is having on our society & would like to see it halt. I never said nor implied that I have the right to dictate what people view. No one can be controlled in that sense. However I do believe that I am within my right to speak out against things which I believe are detrimental to our society. If we apply your argument to the matter of murder, then we must say the following to any citizen who is strongly opposed to murder & says that people shouldn't be allowed to do it: "What right have you to say that people may not murder someone?"

You might say that murder is an entirely different issue because it affects not just yourself but others (namely the victim & the victims relations etc.) too. But the thing is that pornography in many cases (not all) ultimately affects more than just you, it extends to tearing apart marriages, families & other social relationships leaving lives shattered & devastated.

Oh and yes, if you outlaw something some people are bound to deviate from the law & do it anyway. However I think that is no basis purely by which to keep something legal. If it was then we might as well make stealing legal 'cause a heck of it seems to be going on in this country daily.

:)

Kind Regards,

Alcohol ruins marriages, families and relationships, should we outlaw that? Grand Theft Auto has been blamed for violence within society, should we outlaw all computer games? Where do you draw the line?

Personally I don't want my freedoms taken away because there are a few unbalanced people out there that can't handle their alcohol/porn/drugs/games/whatever. People should take some personal responsibility for their actions and not blame their problems on society.
