Well there a some nice aftermaket steering wheels... most cars came with crap so it was normal to just change it to something smaller thicker and just nicer looking... but these days you cant because of the airbag.
Although Id definatley buy a R32 steering for my car...

"This includes the nitrous oxide, which is used to race. Turbo chargers and superchargers are illegal because the car was not manufactured with them," he said.

Nitrous is legal... as long as i)It is done within legal limitations (SABS parts, etc) and 2)There is a "warning, flammable gas" sign on (according to traffic dept).
Aftermarket modifications are legal as long as it is done by an approved/accredited company and the parts are SABS approved (as with any product in SA, TVs, radios, pc's, etc).

So a back-yard mechanic may not in matter of fact work on your car then?
(Overhauling, some fine tuning if you are so inclined, etc?)
