Again, how do you prove that a specific, individual dog is part of that breed of dogs that causes 66% of the attacks? If I go to an animal shelter and adopt a mongrel whose ancestry is not known, should I need a permit for it? If you want a rule, you need a way to enforce it fairly.

This is why a weight based permit would be more fair to everyone as it is based on the maximum ability of the dog to do damage. I would say any dog that weighs more than 10-12 kg is when you have to start thinking about some sort of permit as that is when they start going over the weight of a small child.
Because pit bulls account for something like 8-% of dog attacks in the USA. So you can clearly identify the breed. It's not rocket science.

That isn't as easy as you would think.

Only way purebreds are identified is that they arbitrarily pick a bunch of animals that have some certain characteristics, and then just work on the ancestry of those initial animals.

Talking about dogs that attack people.
Any of you okes had a Boerboel?
Best dogs I ever had.
While they're great for personal protection, they're completely useless at defending property. They're too friendly. A friend has three of them. The smallest one as big a bear. While at work burglars cleaned them out. Neighbors didn't even hear barking.

I've read a story of a boerbul smashing his way into a neighbor's yard to rescue a kid that was getting mauled by a pit bull. I'll see if I can find the link.

It is the breed. Pure bred or not. They attack people at will. Literally.

Right, so lets say an HOA decides they don't want Pitbulls to reside in the complex.
You are a trustee of this HOA and your job is to make a decision on whether or not a person can keep their beloved family pet or not when they move in.

You need to provide me a fair way of doing this such that it doesn't prejudice owners who don't have pibbles in any way, whilst having a high enough specificity that you don't have any of these dogs?

Dude, WTF are you on about? If you're moving in, obey the rules. They are given to you before purchase/rental of a unit. It's really simple. Your attempt here is a moot point. The complex has rules about animals, and people need to obey them. Simple. There is no decision to be made...it WAS made when the rules were laid out.

It appears as if you're a pit bull lover/supporter/apologist so there's no arguing around this. But the breed is a problem; it's widely accepted by various dog associations as being a problem (way beyond your level of expertise on the animal); it accounts for the highest number of unprovoked attacks on people and other animals; and it's banned in multiple countries.

Boerbulls seem to be large puppies, from what I've seen also good with their families but they are HUGE dogs. I dunno, in dogs it seems the larger they are the softer if I look at Great Danes etc, really friendly loving dogs.

As to breaking down sh** if a child is crying, my ridge has destroyed two wooden fences and three wooden gates, she's nearly de-railed my 2m high clearvu gate and when I had one that had horizontal bars, she damn well climbed them to throw herself over if we went for a walk with the kids.

You can drive out but if you walking, she wants to go! Hell, she'll jump in the boot of our i20 and is perfectly behavined in a car or in public. We use a half choke though in case because she is very strong.

Millions of cats exist and interact with kids daily, yet **somehow** you can't find a statistical trend of cats killing children.

Apparently happens. I don't have the stats:

A cat killed a nine-month-old baby girl as she slept in her pram. The girl's mum Snezhana came to check on her daughter Alexandra who she had left in the backyard of their home in ...

Ever heard of SIDS? Kid could have had other problems like congenital heart problems. Apparently cats have climbed on their owners when they have heart problems.
