This is why if you have strong killer dogs and small children, you don't the dogs on your bed or on the couch, the kids go there, the dog gets the message.
Your dog should automatically be sent outside permanently when you have small kids. Even a lab or a shepherd have the strength to kill a small child. So mitigate the risk put em outside.
The problem comes when the kids get too comfortable with the animal then go and poke and prod it. Terriers have a short temper
For people starting a family. Get the puppy with the baby. If you already have the dog then outside with said dog
