"Holy" Mark Barnes is running his mouth — Mondli Gungubele

South African Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mondli Gungubele, suggested that former Post Office CEO Mark Barnes was not as good a steward of the beleaguered state-owned mail carrier as he claims.

Gungubele told 702’s Bongani Bingwa that he had read the newspapers and stories in which Barnes is quoted.

So for me I'd believe Mondli if he had actual numbers to back up that statement.

Yes Mark Barnes didn't magically turn the entity around, but what were the critical numbers during his tenure and did they see a recovery during his tenure?

Ready to fit right in at the smart mega cities we are all destined to arrive at on the high speed rail links...roll on 4IR....

Once again the brainiacs assuming everyone is as thick and easily led as their ANC voters...
"Smart Cities" is a cover-up term to avoid using "Gulags".

There's no need for a post office. It was run into the ground and not profitable, so let it die.

I wonder whether this super awesome plan of pure brilliance relies on legislation to force people to use SAPO for small packages instead of courier companies...

thats coming soon, maybe even unemployed "enforcers" to make sure businesses comply.
I mean it was on the cards for COVID Idiot mask enforcement, so why not here?

And who have been the political party in charge of deploying the management of the Post Office?

Oh right the ANC.

The plan is intended to modernise the Post Office. It includes introducing new services like online motor vehicle license renewal bookings and an electronic registered mail service covering all South African citizens.
Clicking that link gives me
MyBroadband asked Sapo how its online renewal platform had performed since launching in January 2022
So yeah, that isn't a "new service" and certainly isn't going to save SAPO when many other people also do this.

As for the "electronic registered mail service" ... is that just email? I can't imagine anyone at the post office being able to run an email server with any sort of stability.
