I try not to carry cash.. I have this thing (and I have no clue how I developed this behaviour) where I think that I need to carry all my cash that I have with me. So for I have R100 on me I carry that with me, which is fine, but if I have R5000 lying around at home for some reason, all of it needs to come with me. So I try and use a card most of the time... otherwise that weird instinct I have kicks in...

hahahaha... when i have large sums of money like that, i also carry it on me... it feels nice... to be wealthy you must surround yourself with wealth... i feel very happy when i have R5k on me... but most of the time i carry very little cash, R200 or R100, R50...

Yesterday I had R3000 on me for a while. Then I had to pay R2200 for a my rent.

I used to carry heavy amounts of cash with me (R5,000+). I used to get paid in cash and always kept it on me. Problem is (never mind robberies) that you tend to spend more if you have cash on you than when you only have your card.

I won't carry more than R500 cash with me these days.

When I was in the US a few months ago, I noticed how few people seem to carry cash. Buy coffee, out comes the plastic. Buy a drink, out comes the plastic. Purchases of a couple of $$'s, all on plastic.

To me, it seems inconvenient to use a card all the time. Easier just to toss a couple of bucks on the counter than wait for a slip to sign.... But that's the way it is going there.

Still have to wait for the change anyway...
