How much money I saved switching to a hybrid

Switching to a traditional hybrid from a small-engined petrol-powered car is saving me roughly R630 per month in fuel costs for my daily commute, working out to over R7,500 per year.

I recently traded in my Volkswagen Golf 7 1.4tsi DSG for a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid XS, and while the change has taken some adjustment, the fuel cost savings are clear.

Had enough of life

You went from a powerful Turbo engine to a lethargic Naturally aspirated one? how dreadful. No one who cares about life wants to live like that.
two engines in the hybrid, you only mention the one, the other is electric ...

when done right the car combines both power units to product max power ... not that I'm in any rush to go hybrid or electric, but Toyota at least made it available at a reasonable price point

Awesome man! It'll only take 11 years for you to recoup the investment in the new car!

DEAL!!!!

I recall having this conversation before and I realised something. How much torque does your Hyundai make?

The hybrid version Toyota Cross costs R80,000 more than the petrol version. You saved nothing until you've broken even on that.
R42,200 more

the cheapest hybrid is an 'XS' spec model at R494,400
the 'XS' petrol version costs R452,200

the cheapest petrol Cross overall is a lower spec level, an 'Xi', at R414,800

but to compare apples to apples you'd need to compare petrol XS to hybrid XS of course

Its a Toyota Hybrid, it doesn't add anymore additional power like other manufacturers do, so yes it is still an awfully underpowered hybrid.

More than your toyota hybrid. Faster too, fuel consumption between the two is negligible and also cheaper. Sorry I got you beat in all aspects.

anything else I can help you with?

Are you sure? Think you forgot to add the torque from the lectric motor

Once again, A toyota hybrid does not add more combined torque, the two units will supply torque independently and the combined power figures are dismal if not laughable.

Point is my Hyundai turbo will eat your Toyota hybrid in all conditions.
