I'd like to see exactly what Internet traffic is going through my router for the simple purpose of determining who is using the most bandwidth in my household. Yes, I could just install a monitoring app on every client PC, but nothing stops more tech-savvy family members from uninstalling said app.
Since the router has to know what it's sending and receiving, it makes sense that this would be the place to listen for traffic, right? Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to do this - I've tried hooking an app to listen to the syslog but that only gives me a small amount of useless info.
Is there any way to get the info I require, and if so, how? (Without using a proxy server!)
