"TELKOM is in urgent need of competition. That much is self-evident, whether you are directly involved in the telecommunications sector, a local business facing offshore competitors that enjoy substantially lower communications costs, or merely a long-suffering private customer who has had enough of Telkom treating you as if it is doing you a favour. "The regulator is also wrong to condemn Telkom’s pricing model before carrying out proper research into the costs it has incurred to enable the roll-out of ADSL."

Yeah whatever, that network was rolled out many moons ago and paid for serveral fold by consumers.

Telkom had every opportunity to play ball at the hearings. They CHOSE not to explain any of their costs etc.

ICASA can't be blamed for Telkom's arrogance.

There is, surely, a compromise to be found. Icasa should get off its high horse and put in the ground work

THEY DID. Its Telkom acting like Lord Muck and demanding meetings in private.

Really, emotions one side, did we expect Telkom to discuss its costs in an open hearing with all its competitors in attendance ? Icasa knows Telkom's costs filed in a manual called COA/CAM . (I wonder in the world who came up with a name like this ? an Cost economics I guess)
