Monthend rush?

Hi,

It is almost the end of the month.

I gather (and guess even more) that a lot of ADSL users "saved" bandwidth for the end of the month and will now be doing their downloads.

Hope Telkom has enough bandwidth available for this, as I intend downloading from tonight 1 GB international and another 2 local.

That will then be 6GB for the month :)

So - I'm going to be selfish - please all others planning to do the same - please DON't! I want all the bandwidth for myself![;)]

Telkom could have saved themselves the monthend rush and beginning of the month "we are all back" bandwidth requirements if they just staggered the capping period for all users.

But Ok, we know they are such brilliant strategic thinkers that they were slapped with a R3bn fine for anti-competive behaviour!

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.

I think it should be okay as long as you don't hit the same download sites as me! [;)] I'll be hitting Source Forge's ftp site from tonight onward! Yeah baby!

Happy surfin' people!

I normally search for some obscenely large demo to ensure that I do reach my cap, even if I play the demo for only 5 seconds. [sarcasm]Simply to ensure that I use all the wonderfully cheap bandwidth that telkom supplies...[/sarcasm]

You must be part of the 80% of people that telkom claims never reaches 3 gigs. Dont take their word for it. I too like yourself watched my usage, which I find a tiresome chore. But this month Im over by 400MB already.
All I can say is the Capped speeds are nowhere near a 33k modem on its worst day. You average between a Timeout and 1 to 1.5 kb, but mostly 200 to 400 bytes. Its very slow.
I would too embarressed to tell another Telekom Company if I were telkom what speeds my broadband customers get, even if it was a capped speed. Its nothing less than a complete disgrace and abuse of the SA Public. I cannot even update my Anti Virus Definitions. It starts at about 1.5kb and slows down to 200bytes and then times out.

Telkom knocking another nail into its coffin.

Now remember ppl big daddy telkom says Most users only use bout 1.8 to 2.2 GB a month
so i wouldnt be suprised if telkom made the cap smaller due to their survey data.
imagine only sitting with 2gb a month[xx(]

Proud South african rip offs.
