I dont know if I was the (un)lucky one, but 1 and half weeks after starting to attempt to get 3G connectivity I still have nothing.

First they want differnt stuff every time you go to the office, then you have to make an appointment, then they deliver the card to places they were told not to.....and then they forget to activate the card....but wait thats not all....

Currently I am getting the following error when I try to connect:
While attempting to connect, am error with the umber 619 occured.
- The port is disconnected.

I tried the card on a different Notebook with the same results.

Is there anyone out there that can assist me in getting this damn thing to connect?....

I understand that Autopage is responsible for all the activations and stuff, so Vodacom might not be the culprits, but If I had to advize anyone on a company to buy from....: DONT SUPPORT AUTOPAGE. They are useless!

Cheers,

The 619 error has been happening over the last couple of days but it supossed to be solved now. It is not an error on your side but rather on the Vodacom server. If you try a couple of times you should connect eventually.

I just tried now again - same issue (tried about 20 times)....
If the 3G network has some sort of problem, should that affect GPRS connectivity as well?

Maybe some more detail is required:
1) SMSs are sent/received fine
2) The network is acquired fine (it indicates Vodacom and 3G/GPRS on the status bar)
3) The Signal strength is medium (2/5 bars for 3G, 4/5 for GPRS)
4) When I connect through GPRS or 3G I get the issue as described (#619)

I suspect you're not provisioned for the internet apn yet.

If you put the sim in a normal phone, can you do data with it, browse the web, etc.

If not, call 155 and ask them to check for you. They can at least tell you, but you'll probably need to get Autopage to provision it.

I tried to connect with the sim card in a cell phone like you suggested, but got the error message: GPRS authentication failed.

Just had a 3G "expert" here, and he tried with a different sim card...and all worked like intended.

He confirmed that the services (although we were assured many a time they were activated) was still not active/not configured correctly.

Moral of the story?.....I refer back to my first comment: If you want customer service that is worth anything, STAY AWAY FROM AUTOPAGE.

So here we are again...waiting another 24 hours to see if "John Doe" did his work correct this time....

I am pleased to report that finally my 3g is sorted...Now why couldnt they just fix it the first time round? More and more I find that in ZA, nothing is done until you throw a fit...
