More legal battles over load-shedding looming

Okay, so if they the win the case; then what? Would it compel the government to open up the market to private sector electrical generation and provision? That's about all we could hope for as far as making a difference is concerned.

Yeah go ahead and don't sue the idiots responsible for Escom's demise. They should sue the anc and nobody else. Sue the anc until there is nothing left. Any future anc member must be afraid to join because of lawsuits. I am certain that somewhere there must be a law that we can use to sue the pants off the anc and it's members.

There is that, yes. But Solidarity's case is far simpler, and it would kick off immediate cost-saving benefits. If successful, it will not result in an overnight increase in EAF (impossible goal for any initiative), but at least it will remove Eskom's crippling procurement shackles -- those fat cats skimming off devouring the top whilst adding zero value.

Government != ANC.

You REALLY don't want to attempt to open that box.

Just bring in those Turkish power ships already. Beg the EU for a handout to cover the costs while new power stations are commissioned. Replace many of the ESKOM staff.

How many MW were those ships again? 1500? Not even 2 stages, with a 25 year contract I think it was? I stand corrected. For multiple billions. Why not 4 years, why decades? No thanks, Gwede's gut is big enough.

What are the power ships going to do take us to stage 4 and bankrupt the country further?

Whoyougonnasue? Ghostbusters!

Just pick a day and we all hit the streets, slash, burn, show up at Ramarecentlyrestored's house, rocks and all. You know nothing else will make a difference, especially not a civilized response. Bring the country to a standstill, until they notice, or sharrap and let the ANC continue its destruction. It may be too late for a solution anyway.

Eskom is pretty much untouchable, and I think they know it.

If you were the biggest bully in school, and no one could touch you, would you stop doing what you want?

I don't think so.

Speaking of which, where are they? We really could have used them but no, we all believed the lies that Government would magically fix Eskom..

Negotiate a better deal. They were promised to Ukraine as well but not for 25 years.

A positive answer is needed as to why IPP suppliers cannot get licences. A supplier submitted his plan 5 weeks ago, by hand to NERSA’s office

No response. Now it cannot be found. The person he has been dealing with is clueless and disinterested.

they're prioritizing applications from MPs families and pets first.

Probably keeping ESKOM monopoly alive. The way it will be with NIH. Only state and state approved hospitals will be available.

I would rather suggest they take government to court for government to surrender its shares to a public stock exchange and for the monopoly of power production to end. It's the quickest way for it to be restructured.

Much like what happened to Telkom and the communication department in the case brought by Altech. It's the only reason we have even half-way decent internet in this country. Otherwise, we would still be using Leased lines and ISDN.
