I saw the article and came here to make the very same point....I am glad that you also picked it up.....

A few months ago there were articles regarding the other MP's, those guys on avergage paid a fine equal to just about half of what they benefited. Forgive my ignorance, but suerly a fine should be a punishment. Their fines in my opinion should be at least twice what they benefitted...now that would start to look like a punishment. with these fines they still come out on top..shows that in South Africa, if you're in guv'ment then crime does pay and well. if you get caught then you're just in it for half of what you got out....where do I sign up......I'm sorry for the french but thats just fcukin bullsh1t

Hate to tell you this but crime pretty much pays anywhere in SA :)

Still, it would be nice to see an actual firm stance on corruption in SA.

Mr Goniwe should really feel a little hard done by as these criminal have admitted guilt but still are in office.....
