Conjection, rumours, secrets and Lies. I love it :D . . . .

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/sony/more-ps3-downgrades-on-the-way-179863.php
in short:
"Fully functional PS3 betas still do not exist"
"And now we have been told that the powersource might be an external 400 watt unit after all"
"so the final release might run only at 2.8 gigaherz"

It's not about hating Sony, to the contrary I supported them for many years. But the lies and smack and bull they're sprouting now, they'll never see another penny (or cent etc) from me. Eg:

Microsoft tried it, got burned and have now (largely) grown up.

I on the other hand, do hate Sony, so I take quite a lot of pleasure in this :)

lord_spaceman : What?! Consoles are far better than PC's for gaming

Whether the PS3 is worth it however is debatable

I think I will be buying my first console (The Wii) in a long time (Not because I rather play games on my PC, but because I dont play games)

dude, it's just a console...buy it, don't buy it... noone really cares. I tend to think that we should wait for the actual product before whining about how bad it is... but that's just me.

Just for your info, PS2 is still the best selling console in the US, only being outsold in one single month by XBox360 since launch :)

I'll buy the PS3 when it hits South Africa as soon as I'm sure there are enough games and support. The x360 I wouldn't touch with a 40-foot pole though :D

Wii looks pretty sweet and should be a serious contender.

It's not just a console :D According to Sony, it's supposed to be a complete PC :) I guess we'll have to see.

Also @Anti-Thesis, why? Is it the overheating, the evil megacorp, Blu-Ray?

Why not buy a PC then ?

/opinion = on
This brings me back to my debate: If consoles are aiming to be more like PCs with each passing generation...why not save yourself the trouble and buy a PC in the first place

...by the way, if I *were* to buy a console, it would be the Nintendo Wii...as it can offer something that a PC can't...
PS1, PS2 and PS3 = pure n00b plastic machines.
/opinion = off

Well actually not. Bar the fact that they're different interfaces, as much as Sony wants you (as in 'EU') to believe that the PS3 is a PC for tax reasons, the fundamental purpose of a console is to provide a non-volatile, easy to use, quick-on-quick off, affordable (hahahahaha!), non-intimidating, livingroom social game experience, suitable for technopeasants.

In comparison PC's are complicated, expensive and anti-social (from a face to face perspective, too non geeks that matters).

Fact is, unless Sony releases a wordprocessor, spreadsheet and printer for the PS3, it's just pretending.

No I haven't played on an x360 but nothing I have heard has impressed me.
I've been impressed by the PS1, the PS2 and fully expect to be impressed by the PS3.

I actually agree with you lord_spaceman: I think Sony etc should focus on making the most ninja gaming console ever seen rather than try and edge into the PC market. We all know that consoles will never (unless something drastic happens) replace PCs so why try? It's like trying real hard to market the pogo stick as the replacement car.

I expect that by 2008 there'll be some really awesome looking PS3 games, and we may have it in S'efrika. ;)

Seriously though, both machines will have stunning looking games. From everything said and seen they're going to be quite close performance wise. From all that's come out, bar Sony's smack talk, if either leads, it's the 360 by a hairs breadth. Basically consider them equal.

Having said that consider the price, and the fact that 360 2nd gen games like Gears of War will be coming out at the same time or before the PS3. Sony will be more than a year behind. Every criticism Sony laid against MS for the 360 launch is coming back to haunt them. Rumour from yesterday is that there will be less than half the number of PS3's available at launch than there were 360's

Blu - Ray? Anyone remember how c@rp the PS2 DVD player is? That's a war I'll wait for someone to win before I get involved.
