Hardly new tech... ASOD has been in operation in KZN for nearly a decade I think...

And the signs that "influence" driver behaviour are pointless because drivers ignore them, I just have to watch the N2 in Durban to see that...all the signs indicate that travel time to X (say the Pavilion) location is like 45 minutes (easily 4 times longer than it normally is) and people will just carry on, and not taking alternative routes to get to their destination.

How effective is this. I saw it on some roads in KZN but the locals seem to ignore it. I tried to keep to it but then everyone drives on your ass and you can feel the silent swearing.

ASOD does work by and large....

The rest of it just gets ignored mostly though.

People in KZN drive like maniacs. So not effective at all.

One place it's been active for a while is fields hill on the way up to Kloof/Hillcrest. By and large I would say it works but If you happen to know where the start and finish points are it's very easy to speed up the hill and come off the highway before the second check point.
