More South Africans expected to move to Mauritius as borders reopen

Well, yes and no. Mauritius was already offering the ability to move there since late 2020. You just had to do a two-week quarantine which was not a problem since you moved there.

The uptick is either because people wanting to move to Mauritius didn't want to do a 2-week quarantine to live there (sounds unlikely). Or because many people were waiting to see how COVID-19 plays out and the uncertainty. And so far it seems we're living with it so people are now making their decisions.

Too expensive. Somehow I doubt this article and the facts contained therein. Just like the R15m US Green Card which 'so many South Africans' took up....

I would much rather believe millions of South Africans jumping boats to South America and then making caravan trips through Central America into Mexiko and then into the US where borders are now open.

Yeah ok we're not actually refugees lol. Our country is fine. I can understand if this was Afghanistan or something lol.

Why would you ever pull out 2018 stats when the real illegal immigrant issue started in January 2021 when Biden opened the Southern Borders and invited anyone across the globe who feel oppressed to come in there?

Will look for it. There was a news article on CNN, as well as on Fox which showed a list of the top countries from where migrants are coming. South Africa made the list on both channels with quite a few thousand people coming there this year.

Since October, the US has encountered 845,307 unique individuals, compared with 796,400 during the same period in 2019, when there was a border crisis under the Trump administration.
