Seems they jump around a bit for some reason, they were 15th in 2019

100% pure rip-off? New Zealand voted second-worst place to move to
Cost of living too high and pay too low, say survey respondents, though natural environment, climate and sporting life are appreciatedwww.theguardian.com

It's always like that with him."This is the end for SA"![]()
Agreed. Once the rest are solved or at least alleviated, many who left will return and the emigration numbers will drop.Of all the problems we need to solve in SA, emigration is bottom of the list.
Also agreed. So I just do the best I can in my life, given the realities. and good luck to those who go there, or anywhere.
No I do not have a plan...and never implied I did.Better than just complaining on social media about how bad things are... bitching and moaning and whining about how concerning it is doesn't give one extra points over joking and deflecting from the problems.
You're not wrong though, it is a serious issue. A few things come to mind. One, do you any idea what we, as individuals, can do about it? I'm all ears if you think we should be doing something to stop people leaving, to hear what it is. Two, is emigration actually the problem we need to solve? To me the problem isn't that people are leaving, the problem is we don't always have the skills needed to replace them. Of all the problems we need to solve in SA, emigration is bottom of the list. Three, the Serenity Prayer from 12 Steps
Likely I don't have the wisdom to know the difference but I feel pretty helpless when it comes to the problems facing SA. So I just do the best I can in my life, given the realities. Maybe New Zealand has no problems, or a brighter future, and good luck to those who go there, or anywhere.
Unless you have a plan of some sort for making a difference in SA though, joking around and deflecting are the order of the day. Not complaining. And if you do have a plan I'm interested to know more...
You're not seeing the forest for the trees...also blinded by your typical and immediate disdain for the poster.Agreed. Once the rest are solved or at least alleviated, many who left will return and the emigration numbers will drop.
We have so many other, more pressing problems in SA but nah, people emigrating is the big one.
Also agreed.
I am extremely happy in a faraway land...I thought you were being miserable in some faraway land?
While sure, skilled people leaving ain't always the best thing to happen. But emigration happens, it is what it is.You're not seeing the forest for the trees...also blinded by your typical and immediate disdain for the poster.
The message is clear: a lot of skilled people are leaving...and without these people the chances of fixing the more pressing issues aka the reasons people are leaving in droves...are becoming more and more less likely.
Does that not concern you?
Wrong thread?South Africans are worried SA will be pulled away (read "isolated") from the rest of the world by our association with BRICS.
And even if we are not facing isolation, then possible economic fallout from said association. At a time when there is already economic fallout simply from the current world events.
I expected this to happen. It's because our government doesn't have the balls to take a principled stance to a brutal unilateral invasion by Russia.
There's plenty to be worried about. Who knows where this will go?
Why would I do that? So do you want to emigrate? Are you going to give me money so I can emigate?
Another pointless post.Dreadful! Are you okay?
This is the end for SA. No recovering from this.
It is yes, but it isn't at the top of the list when it comes to SA's problems nor will it singlehandedly destroy SA.People need to recognize it as a symptom of the current climate in SA...
Why? I stated what I think is one of the leading causes of increased emigration currently.Wrong thread?
While sure, skilled people leaving ain't always the best thing to happen. But emigration happens, it is what it is.
But don't we see these articles every once in a while, repeating the same story over and over? So far, SA has not imploded solely because of these people who left?
But you and the poster are acting as if these people were the only skilled people out of a country of 60 million. Therefore, the sky is falling.
Please don't misunderstand me here, I'm not saying SA is perfect by any metric, but acting like skilled people who emigrate will singlehandedly destroy us before even the ANC does is unreasonable.
60 million highly skilled people? While sure, skilled people leaving ain't always the best thing to happen. But emigration happens, it is what it is.

No, more like there have to be more than 11 000 skilled people in a population of 60 million...60 million highly skilled people?
How many? No, more like there have to be more than 11 000 skilled people in a population of 60 million...
It didn't say it's "cry wolf", I said that it's being reported on constantly yet SA still hasn't imploded solely because of the emigration. So if a phenomenon is being reported on more and more frequently...it suddenly becomes a "cry wolf" scenario?...that's just ridiculous.
Didn't say it's a laughing matter. Is this still a laughing matter. 'cos the OP is seen as a Chicken Little?
