The narrative really is to silence freedom of expression, to bury issues, to hide them and not deal with them. In an equal society people are free to be racist and express hatred and express racist views, and others are free to prosecute them, free to put them on police watch lists or give them a public kick up the butt on social media or otherwise.

What happens in a society where freedom of expression is removed is that you have not actually dealt with any social ills, merely driven them deeper underground. In a cancel society where ugly voices are silenced and opposing voices removed or brushed aside, those ugly things don't just go away, they come back with a vengeance.

That this guy was allowed to lay it all bare his intentions of violence on Facebook is actually a good thing. That these threats were not taken seriously enough by anyone who viewed them or that police departments generally brush off social media threats, makes all of them responsible too for what happened.

The driver is being targeted because (for no other reason that) he is "black".
