A system of Infinite Growth cannot exist in a World of finite Resources...

Capitalism is a flawed system... case study.. Japan... or any Western Country were population growth is dropping and is increasingly becoming dependant on migrants or cross border trade deals to maintain growth...
Humans are growing constantly, it is a flawed system. At some point we will all start dying.

In any event resources are not finite. We live in a never ending universe.

its like...

...i mean...

Communism is an ideology that advocates a classless system in which the means of production are owned communally
Socialism is an economic and political system based on public or collective ownership of the means of production, which emphasizes equality rather than achievement.
Marxism is a social, political, and economic philosophy that examines the effect of capitalism and advocates for revolutionary communism
...so different, ermagerd

I'm not saying you are. I'm telling you that this socialism is exclusively distant from communism as a whole is a socialist narrative.
Well first you will have to tell me which type socialism you are referring to, as in give me an example of the person and their policies? They are obviously not polar opposites and in many cases they share some similarities. They also share similarities to your run of the mill Capitalism however. In fact i would say many modern day "socialists" are closer to Capitalists than Communists.

As for this narrative you talk about, cant say ive come across it.

Y'all want a war. Then peacetime comes again, and with it prosperity and the economic problems of today repeat themselves. You get yet another millenial-like generation, then what? War again?

There has to be a better way.
There is, but no one wants to hear it, and less people have the brass to do it.

Nice rant. Now answer the question.
I can try help simplify the explanation: Believing socialism is a gateway philosophy to communism is like believing weed is a gateway drug to meth

Vanilla Socialism is one thing, but I saw admiration for Russia and China pick up around the time Trump became president. To an extent I had never seen before. Suddenly Putin was cool and so many people believed the Communist party of China had all the right ideas. Should I even mention Trump's love affair with North Korea? And with all this an increase in the number of Communist proponents.

In the end I have for a long time held the opinion that the far left and right are the gutters of the political spectrum. And that over time politics tend to act like a pendulum. Give a hard push from the right and it soon swings further left. Then the left pushes back even harder and soon it swings even further right again. Eventually the whole thing basically explodes and there is some form of revolution in one way or the other.

Only a moderate approach can combat this trend. Moderates - While to the far right they appear to be on the left and to the far left they appear to be on the right, and for all that it seems to be a bit boring for many - Tip the scale in favour of balance and stability.

Not sure what that has anything to do with my question.

Capitalism isn't infinite growth, you don't understand what it is.

and then why not? We don't have finite resources, we don't know what the limits are, if we get to mine asteroids then there is no limits.
That is the mathusian trap and it has been disproved time and time again. The resources trap is a red herring.

Most developed countries now have a service sector and they optimise their resources. This is where a capitalist system is adventageous. It uses prices as a means to know how to optimise the system.
The current system is failing the average family, where one is having to work multiple jobs with no paid/unpaid leave, just to cover daily expenses then only to have education and health costs bury them under an indefinite cycle of debt, leaving no money for them to actively participate in the economy...

I suppose we can go around and around in circles but to me its clear the only advocates for capitalism as it stands now (as with BEE policies and the land issue in South Africa) are the small minority that stand to benefit excessively from such a system and those that do not know better.
Only those that have lived through the pain of begging hospital staff, trying to sell what little possessions they have left to save their loved ones life, Or a parent helplessly watching the future of their truly gifted child lost due to the high cost of education, Or the person that has to work all the time rarely getting the opportunity to spend with loved ones... know the true cost of the current form of capitalism to humanity...

Dude. Read a history book. Your sob story will look a lot worse under socialism, if you aren't dead.

This is the problem with the internet. There's just too many uneducated opinions
Btw. I come from a poor background and I'm extremely grateful that I don't have to rely on the useless state for anything.

A new survey released by the Washington, D.C., nonprofit Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation reflects that, if the younger generation gets out and votes in 2020, those running for office on the far left have reason to be hopeful.

According to YouGov, which conducted the poll, capitalism, amid a widening divide between the haves and have-nots, has plunged in popularity from a year ago, with one out of every two millennials — ages 23 to 38 — supporting it.

Meanwhile, 36% of millennials polled say that they approve of communism, which is up significantly from 28% in 2018.

Socialism, a dirty word to the president and many of his supporters, has shown a decrease in favorability in all age groups except the Silent Generation (age 74+) and millennials, of which 70% say they’d be likely to vote for a socialist candidate.

Capitalism...Really-?
Capitalism is failing for a few very basic reasons not seen this way ever before, and will take effort to keep alive, but the beauty of this failure is not capitalism itself, its rather abstract traits that one can couple to mankind-greed(Motive) & money(Medium) & Digital-(Carrier). These 3 was never present as a combination in history before.
The experience with these 3 in combination is slim in world time terms.

The wakeup call for those that think Communism, Socialism etc will solve their problems, is just wrong simply because the same ingredients are very present in all of those. Money is the main control system in the world today, and proof is, if any person, entity, local authority, government run out of money, it has a problem, and so all those relying on it. One thing to understand is money cannot disappear, it just flow to wrong accounts and sit there out of circulation crippeling the game.

The answer is to Make-Capitalism-Great-Again, by being a parent to it, if a child refuses to grow up it needs a parent life long, same for the other saint ideologies. Let common Sense, Locic, Reasonability, Longterm sustainability, Fairness be the parent, and send false abstract positiveness(Abstract group locking) to jail for life.

Live and let live:
-Limit profits, get still rich ok, but on quality and volume deserved., private sector forced to have respect for money.
-Limit taxes, levies, admin costs, interest for borrowing, Governments forced to have respect for money.
-Limit Red Tape, clogging up all systems, let all have respect for bookkeeping.
-Limit borrowing, you must have a good solid reason. Let all have respect for the hole in the bank and false insolvents to channel and pin scores.
-Have a monetary system that can digitally track(AI- put to usefull work) any hint of high level corruption/cannelling,
so it can be handlled immediately before damage is done.
-Force any political ideology to have respect for its voters, live and let live.
-Play this game of relativity between population numbers & Resources & Money fair.
-Get rid of drugs, so everybody chemically challenged can think straight again and behave normally..

Yes you can learn from history, but taking solutions meant to solve yesterdays problems and trying to use it to solve tomorrows very different problems is nonsensical. If you haven't noticed the future isn't about getting up a the break of dawn to till the soil so you can go sell your grain at the local market at a fair price.
Automation/Digitisation is growing at unprecedented rates and children that do not have access to cheap education with decent health care and parents that are present to raise them will be left behind. The backlash from the exclusivity of the current system is already clear from the rise of Nationalism in recent years.
As Technology companies Alphabet, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, ... continue to push the value of data above oil; Traditional industries such as mining, agriculture, manufacturing,... continue the drive into automation; The Brick-and-Mortar businesses continue suffering substantial loses to the rise of online shopping,... Nationalist polices will further be driven by the voters as they search for a system that includes them under the assumption that closing their borders and raising walls will somehow bring back their old way of life...
