So today I decided to make an "upside down" fire. It promises to make less smoke, less ash and more goals.

So far....lots of smoke *cough

So I started this fire, two hours later there were still flames. Lots of smoke and ash...the usual. Coals...the usual.

Honestly, can see this work for a "let's keep warm and burn **** throughout the night" fire, but for braai'ing, no.

I'll give it another try one day, maybe.

What is an upside down fire?

You basically make fire on top of a stacked pile of wood:

Logs at the bottom heat up before fire reaches them so in theory less smoke and what not. Anyway, like I said, deffo something to use if you are just making fire for the sake off. But if you want to be braai'ing in 40-50 minutes - nope.

Although, I wonder how this would work with eco logs? Think I'll try that...
