I must say I also dislike marinade and Fanie is correct, it should only be on meat if its fillet. I much prefer a cheese sause on a perfect piece of rib eye steak!!

That's also disguising the taste of the meat.

Nothing wrong with a home made marinade on a sosatie, or some curry chops. But make it yourself it's dead easy. All these store bought sugar/msg filled marinades......nee sies man.

A sauce on fillet..... not always, way better with a good rub then pan fried....

I am off this weekend for a three night stay at a rented beach front house on the west coast....built in braai and all....

The English HO wanting to know if I really need to drink whilst I have a braai every night...

FFS!@ with a sea view, the rolling waves, indoor and outdoor braai, smack bang on the beach..... :erm: You can only but guess my reply!

/moose looking forward to spending long weekend by himself on the beach,.., ;)

yeah a nice rib eye or rump or sirloin should not have any marinate

a sauce can be added but also takes away the taste of the meat

but each to his own ...long as we enjoy

The tail end of that cold front just hit this part of the Namib desert.... bitch cold outside, unfamiliar clouds thundering in off the ice cold Southern Atlantic.....

But shall make the best of the evening, only one day of work left, then on the beach..... we are anticipating temps in the high 20's for Friday and Saturday... shall help my beach fire come along quite nicely.......

Nice.... Enjoy. Jip properly storming now this side. Making a nice spicy beef pot to bring some heat back. These two pics show the clouds rolling in this morning, and then the storm approaching tonight.

At the braai last night, one of the Afrikaans Aunties had a rugby ball in foil on the grid, I was wondering what was in it......

Turns out it was a cabbage, sliced and stuffed with cream cheese, mushrooms, bacon and onions....

I never got to taste it as I had to leave early due to all the beer consumed earlier..... :whistling:

^^ i have to be honest, that doesn't look great... don't know how it will work great either... a full, solid, cabbage head is MASSIVE and will take forever!

but shredded though... there's a plan

The East Wind howling as she pushes her warm air against my brown bedroom drapes..... Causing them to bulge, flapping into the still cold bedroom....

The Moose takes a sip of his steaming coffee, pondering the coming hours.....Madonna crawling over a bed back in the eighties telling me to get into the groove.....

Well that groove has arrived, no work for four days and I be waiting for school holidays to start at 10:00am, pick up the lastbornmoose, cross the border and head south for an hour to a quiet spot on the Northern Cape West coast....

Three days of unadulterated braaing ..... Next to the pulsating ocean, evenings filled with copious amounts of ale watching the setting sunsets sparkle on the cold Atlantic....

Looking forward to this....u okes ..... Enjoy work today..... :D

Packed a few bags of Namibian hardwood in case the local stuff don't do the job....
