Pork rasher is meant to be a snack before the main meal to keep the wives from shouting "Hoe vêr is die vuur!?" and me going, in my most serious voice, "Omtrent 5 meter van jou af!". Best served with Aromat :love:

We braai early to feed the wimin' and young 'uns ...... before the days of marriage, it was not uncommon to be invited to braai with the Moose and only get to chowing around the midnight hour...... these day's all done and dusted before 17h00...... I would look at envy at my neighbours all lighting their braai's at 17h05 ........ :crying: Roll on pensioner days......

/Moose makes mental note to contact Mr.D for pensioner braai notes (If Mr.D is still alive!) :whistling:

@Randhir,

Those Mushrooms, is there garlic in with the cheese also? I use to make them before I traced my gout back to them and I would put butter and lemon juice with them..... awesome flavours....

If my fiancee is making it, there's at least 15 cloves of garlic in it :p Butter, two cheeses, garlic, lemon juice, some thyme and touch of vinegar.

My kids are 14 and 16 and still I don't get the early braai thing spot on... if I had to do it right, I'd probably have to light up at 14h00.

Protip: Don't make fire at 17h05. That's normally kick-off time. It is a little known fact that rugby has two halves with a 10 minute halftime break, to allow Fanie to light the braai fire.

This weekend I'm making a spit braai on Saturday. My mother-in-law is getting married at the age of 66.

We've ordered 6 rolls from the local butcher. 3 pork, 3 beef. 2.5kg each.

Yep! Yep! That's the time I ignite these days.... rugby kickoff was not an issue during Namibian Winter Time.... now it's another issue.... On the plus side, The English HO does not eat meat and my kids are gatvol of braai, so it's the norm now that The HO will make them normal supper and set me loose to my own devices....

Are you allowed to get married at 66?

:love:

Are they that old that you have to cut their meat for them in case they choke? :whistling:

Seriously...... this thread has been going for two years now..... and I am almost sure this topic of Barry Hilton is somewhere back there on one of the previous pages.... :D ..... I still recall old Spizz having a pissup with Barry and I mentioned that Barry had been to my town....

For what it's worth , both my parents were Scots, I was born in the Cape , but rest assured I am totally immersed in the Scottish culture....... :D :whistling:
