Quick question... I prefer to braai with wood, but as a rule that's for the planned stuff :) Everynow and then I feel like doing some steaks or just a quick braai , but without the time-consuming part associated with a wood fire. So normally I would use the charcoal Weber Kettle, but this is also now on its very last legs. Been toying with the gas braai idea, but wife isn't to keen on gas due to an unfortunate incident years ago. So I've been looking at the Weber Q-2400 electric braai as a replacement, seeing that Takealot have them on special

Any comments ?

Had the use of one at a guesthouse, it works, but I wouldn't buy it for steaks/lamb tjops, it's not getting that hot.
Chicken or braai broodjies would work.

Get yourself a Smokey Joe, and use charcoal. Because its so small its ready quickly.

What do you guys think of this?

Just remember that the lifting bar gets very hot if you make a bonfire in it as it is very close to the side of the fire drum when lowered. When you have a heavy load of braaithings on the grid and you try to lift the grid with force it will burn your hands before you can react.

I only noticed earlier that it's sold as a charcoal braai. That grid doesn't seem to lift off either. Will keep looking.

You can remove the grid, but the rectangle frame will still be there. <- if that makes sense.

And don't worry too much about the "charcoal" label, it'll be fine for wood.

Braaishop.com can take ebucks i think

They take Snapscan so a chance of some money back in Wechat. But Checkers is 40% off. The manufacturer: http://www.lks.co.za/index.php/braa...d-accessories/braais/P-porch-braai-m-s-2-0-mm Checkers listed as a reseller. Have mailed them.

Looks like a variable high adjuster (vs fixed positions), doesn't it?
