Not a problem ROAD TRIP......

Bring that Vegan with you, I want to show him something...

On a serious note, the strike is over, three thousand workers of the mine just marched past my hoose, I am sitting at the back, a mere 23 m away, for the last thirty minutes car hooters blaring, masses singing, idiots.... Don't realize that it will take three years to recover their lost wages....., as I sit here, suiping beer listening the the human league Sing ,The Lebanon.... Years of experience behind me, this is Africa...don't deal with it...Live with it, otherwise feck off from whence you came....

Aluta!

You can put wood in a Weber?

You can put anything in a Weber, as long as you are prepared to fork out for a new one.....

I actually researched the wood in a weber, yes!, you can, but not in the quantities I do, but a man needs flames to compliment the beer..

This morning I awoke to the sound of a fire engine , first thoughts were, " WTF. Did I burn last night?", I vaguely recall pilling more wood on the burning Weber, somewhere in the mists of time last night I can remember giving up on braaing and making meself a simple toasted cheese in HO's kitchen...... I scanned me trusty sidearm Ipad for photographic evidence of the previous evening, the sirens wailing ever louder.... Panic hit me, when I saw this photo..

image.jpg

The wailing of the passing fire engine was shattered as a high pitched ladies voice boomed, " Aaaaagh! , who the hell left a tissue in their pocket?", this was gonna be worse than any fire, HO storms into the bedroom, waving a green T-shirt of mine in the air, I could quickly deduce that T-shirt was covered in lumps of wet tissue, obviously from the morning's washing.....

Careful what you say here Moose, this could set the direction of the day..... Now normally myself , FirstbornMoose and MiddleMoose could share the blame on such a high profile incident..... Blame each other..... But it dawned apon me, that today, this day, this sabbath, I was on my own, both daughters were on a swimming tour to Windhoek, ( mmmh! Windhoek, must buy more beer today!) there was nobody to carry the cross with me.... I hung my head in shame and mumbled an apology.... At the same time relieved to know that the laundry had not been burnt to the ground my Weber & Co.

I am off to work today, home by 13hoo Nam time, and shall once again attempt to braai my bokkie steaks.... Let us see where we land up...

Bidding all ye that wander these threads a fantastic Sunday!
:D

Found out where the fire was, one of the local guest lodges, burnt to the ground, luckily nobody was killed, but I believe the owners lost all their pets, dogs, cats and birds....

I recall a recent thread about how people can be unfriendly in the city, know your neighbour kind of thing, well this is what I like about living in a small town, people are dropping of donations at the local SPAR for the couple that lost their business, The fire Chief has been to see me and we shall be doing what we can, I believe Woolies next door will also be assisting, Some residents have bought clothes for them as they have nothing, even their cash on hand went up in flames....

I was informed that the husband could not stop crying, it must be a terrible cross to bear, no insurance either as the lodge is built from a wooden structure....

Be thankful for what you have......

/Moose still at work, wishes he was at home by his roaring fire with a cold Heineken.....

The weather has just swung, strong westerly..... thought about abandoning the fire idea, climb into bed with a cup of coffee............

Yeah! Right, HO, just instructed me to ignite the lumber and to consume copious amounts of fermented water..... :wtf:

Here's a snap before I built the afdak, the day of the "Big Whisky" , that I mentioned earlier....

The Afternoon starts to get HAzy.. (Medium).jpg

Love family history, under what Clan Name do you fall?

i actually do not know.
asked my mother (the dufftown history is from my father's side), she has no idea.

my father is dead
his one sister is dead
one sister left - will try find out

i must try get help on getting more history - today, dufftown still remains a small village, so it should not be too difficult.
went exploring a while back using street view on google earth - looks like very little as ever changed there.

Family History is both interesting and above important to maintain.....

I am an Alexander, falling under the Clan name MacDonald of the Isles,

There are two clan MacDonalds, The one clan sided with the English, for many years my father claimed that we were not the English Loving MacDonalds...... but the clan that hates the Campbells...

/Moose bursts into song, "Oh! Cruel was the snow.... that....."
