And no account on the hybrids for the cost of the electricity? Is that not the 'fuel' the motors use? And is it 'free'? Kind of a misrepresentation, not?

most SA hybrids are not plug in
Surely you are not suggesting the electricity falls from the sky? Somewhere it has to be generated. If from the combustion engine, fuel shall be burnt. It should be accounted for.

So your hybrid car generates more energy in the form of electricity than driving force as a normal combustion engine can? You argue a gain in energy while science only knows a perpetual loss of energy. LoL! You should design cars with a 50cc engine developing 100kw!

Full and mild hybrid models are self-charging. Their batteries are charged using energy created by the combustion engine.
There is no need to plug them in, so you’ll never have to worry about finding or installing a charging station.

There you have it. Account for this fuel too. Do not suggest the consumption with fully charged batteries is always so. The energy comes from somewhere.

The cars listed in the article are plug-in hybrids. For example the Volvo XC60 has a battery that you recharge at a charging station. The petrol engine is only a backup.
Oh, I didn't realize. I just figured all hybrids are self-charging and engine first, with battery as backup. I just looked at the Honda because that is the cheap one (and still too expensive for me).

lol the same way the engine powers an aircon and you can still drive around. same way it can turn wheels and power an electric motor or charge batteries.

anyway thats enough food for the troll

Bakkie – Ford Ranger 2.2TDCi – 6.5l/100km

This is complete horsetwaddle. No way that bakkie can do 6.5l/100km. Not unless it's all downhill.

It is a Ford Ranger, so probably gets that mileage behind the tow truck.

Yeah, I've heard that one a lot. I own one myself in addition to the 10's of rangers the company I work for own, not a single one has broken down. These vehicles has hard lives. Multiple Hilux's, Rangers, Isuzu's, 1 Navara and 1 Amarok. Only the navara broken down. ;)

I'm on the ranger groups so I also see regular horror stories, thing is percentage wise it's not that many giving issues, every single brand has their lemons. In my opinion there's very few really bad cars nowadays.
