I had a Philips PR810 anti-hijack device. If you klapped someone with it they were history.

Can't believe there's no mention of the Ericsson 337 / 388 there. For me that was a groundbreaker in terms of size...

I still have my Nokia 6110, pretty much in perfect working condition.

For me the Nokia Communicators were truly iconic. They always stood out as something special. Nothing else like it.

Yeah my first phone ever.I was in STD 4 and I was the first kid in primary school to have a phone it was a 388,iconic phones indeed!

And before anybody says I was a little spoilt brat lol I worked during my December holidays and bought it for R800.

I still have my Nokia 6110, pretty much in perfect working condition.

Another icon I'm surprised was not mentioned!I had the 6150i after the ericsson almost the same as a 6110 just 1 or two added features..

Agree with MTN though the 3310 was a big hit in its day and relatively affordable.

5110 was a very solid phone. You could kick it around without it breaking, it was a very solid (and basic) phone.

I had the 5110, then the 6110. Then the 6310, then the 6600.

After than I got the LG KS360 - it was sort of OK... then after that it was back to my last Nokia, the 5230.

At this point I'm still hee-ing and ha-ing over what to get next :D

But I still miss my 5110.

Nokia 2110, then Nokia 3110 (which had a really crappy battery), then the 6510, one of the toughest little phones I have ever had.

+1! My kids play with mine. The one phone I couldn't stand back in the day was the Alcatel with its two line screen.

I still have my Nokia 6310i (which my grand dad uses to this day since he finds it easy to use)
I still have my 3310 too and it works perfectly! I dont have it in my heart to chuck em away! I swear i sent more messages and made more phone calls on those phones as a kid as I ever have on my iphone as an adult.

My first brick was a 2110 as well in 1996.

My Dad's first phone was a Black Nokia 918 in the mid 90's, supplied by the company he worked for.
Remember the Extended Life batteries you could get for these phones that made them even bigger? :D

Exactly like this one, but the black version:

I loved the 3310, purely for Nokia Snake. To this day, there is no phone with a better version of
that game! :) 3548 points! Beat that! :D

6310i, did anyone ever send away for that little custom tab on the bottom that Nokia gave away for joining Club Nokia. My first and probably only ever piece of mail from Finland.

Not to mention, Snake was a bomb.

My dad had the MicroTac, with both the standard & extended battery along with a dual charger and a 2nd 'quick' charger.

Pretty insane when I think I've had the same mobile number for 15 years now, attached to 7 different phones and have had 5 different landline numbers serviced by just 1.
