I'd say there is no single profession that leads to a big pay day fast enough. If you want that you need to be an entrepreneur and develop/invent something.
Everything else will suck with either a length of study, low initial income or/and uncertainty. The reason for this is simply the way society in SA is heading and globally too. Look across the range of professions at incomes after1, 3, 5, 10 and 20 periods and you will see it normalizes with the key factor to making it big not being career choice but rather getting to the top/starting your own thing & side business.
I remember they did a survey last yr and found that people that earn a lot of money are not earning it primarily via their main corporate job, ie side business brings in more money.
Also if you look at how things are getting clamped down on then I'd love to see you say medical speciality is where it's at in the 13yrs it takes for you to get there
