In westville there is a lot of fiber laying and I finally managed to catch the foreman and they are apparently laying for "Mothe Telecom".
I have no idea who this is and neither does google.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Vumatel are putting fibre in Westville. Are you sure it isn't a contractor

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a contractor for vumatel. You dont get some no name laying fiber in a subub that has no presence for them.

Motheo is a contractor for SADV, not sure if VUMA also uses them

They laid fibre in Brackenhurst and Brackendowns and did a really shoddy job.
SADV is having to redo most of the joints and splicing.
They've hired other contractors to redo the splicing.

I heard they got as far as the first street lamp and then stopped work.

They are doing the fibre network in Sonneveld (Brakpan) for SADV, but they are disorganised. Some of the sections have been dug up three times already. With nearly every drilling they hit services, in spite of having someone on site monitoring with ground penetrating radar. The remaining drillings they have converted to roadcuts, but do not have the wayleafs for it yet. The whole project were supposed to be done by 11 September, but they haven't finished the civils yet. The current projected date to have everything done is 11 November, but I will be very surprised if they manage to get the network up and running before year end. Not a very well managed project team and because of this they need to replant most of the grass they dug up, as you have no more than three days before the grass starts dying. Compared to Vuma doing Dalpark at the moment, they have got quite a bit to learn.

Mothe... makes me think of Mothball Telecom..
By all accounts above it seems they are indeed high on Naptha when doing "installs"

They were out and about in Pinetown as well..

Seems they're a subcontractor for Vumatel, but also possibly being a bit shady in terms of how the present themselves to residents.....

Check their website: vumatel.co.za/coverage. It's showing coverage in Westville, don't trust call centre staff.
