It was pretty much forever for him too ... except his forever was a lot shorter :p

By the sounds of the article, I think her daughter has dealt with it and moved on already - the scars will always be there though. The mom, however, obviously hasn't.

Except maybe now she will.

How does the saying go?

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"

Awesome.

I agree with the crowd. Burn the *****, problem is he only suffered 11 days.
I would have tried to save him so he could suffer for the rest of his life.

:(

I can think of a better way... clamp his genitals in a vice grip, weld the grip shut, pour petrol over the entire room except the rapist and the path to the exit, put a knive down on the table and light the place on fire...

A good idea for SAW 5 :D or is it 6 now

The women have no recollection of the attack but she can remember the "How is your daughter, comment?" ? Selective insanity, or bad memory?
Were it a coincidence that she meet him during his 3 day pass, or years of careful planning for the day?
The man probably deserved what he got, in a twisted sense of revenge. However, this is now murder, and she will also deserve what she will get...

Careful planning? Nothing about the story suggests any planning whatsoever.

They both lived in the same town. She didn't seek him out, he willingly went back to the town where he had raped a child, bumped into her mother like he probably knew he would, then mr paedo taunted her by asking how her daughter was, it is actually a very subtle threat, and it shows he has no remorse at all. She then walked into a bar, full of people and murdered him infront of everyone. What exactly suggests any kind of plan???? Sounds more like she completely flipped out and made the decision on the spot.

How small is this town, that you will bump into someone you know? In a small time frame of 3 days? Also interesting that they have bottles of petrol lying around in some towns... I will admit that I (just like the thousands of others) that have read this does not have the full story, and human emotions clutters the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Murder does not justify rape, just as rape would not justify murder.

He may or may not have intentionally seeked her out, but the town where it happened is his home town as well. After being in jail for several years, and getting released earlier must also tell that someone thought that he was no threat to society anymore? He may not have taunted her at all, as is alleged in the story, but have asked out of remorse? I don't know the full story, do you? You must if you can condone a man to death that easily?

I seriously doubt she went looking for him. And if he had kept his trap shut she probably wouldn't have noticed him.

The fact that he boasted and taunted her, not much less returned to the town he commited the act in despite being a convicted rapist just highlights his stupidity.

Maybe rape doesn't justify murder - but the fact that he showed zero remorse - I don't care - he got what he deserved. He got his second chance, he wasted it.

Oh for your info ... the town of Benejúzar where the incident took place - has a population of 5,300 people and is 9 km square. It's practically a bloody village. Not so hard to bump into someone then.

Fair enough, in a small town the chances are greater. Specially if the mother also liked hanging out near the bar. I grew up in a small town (smaller than the 5k one) and I have to say that even if you know someone is going to be in town at a specific time, chances are not to great that you will bump into one another.

For the record though, I am against raping, but I believe that the law should be allowed to do the prosecution.

I've always wondered why people do these things so openly. She didn't even try and get away with it or disguise herself! I guess there's some satisfaction in showing everyone that she wasn't afraid to do it.

I grew up in a town of about 10,000 - which practically doubled in size in the 10 years after I matriculated - and you know ... I bumped into a guy who was in school with me when he was down from England for 4 days.

So I don't buy into the whole small chance thing. A small village like that will likely have one central market/shopping area (pretty standard for European villages I believe) - which means the chances of bumping into one particular person are simply that much greater. The fact that he went into a crowded bar bears this out (this happened in daylight during the week)

Anyways ... not much point in going on about this ... has anyone looked at the date in the article? This happened 4 years ago.

Yes, yes I get the emotional reaction this have. I also feel somehow that justice have been served. It is easy to make one sleep better at night when we say, he deserved it. I even understand the support this woman gets from others, as she is seen as a hero for the countless other rape cases that goes unpunished.
Saying that you would do the same or worse though? How does that make you a better person that him? He acted 9(?) years ago on his barbaric emotions and you want to act now on your barbaric emotions to kill or do even worse?
Most people reading comments like this would see it as it is, an emotional version in words. But unfortunately there are also people reading stuff like this and will go out and act on it, go and kill rapist left and right. Thinking that it is all justified. (Emotional thinking gets in the way of rational thinking, and we do stupid things).

point taken...

maybe i should clarify a bit...if it was my daughter and the bloke walked passed me and asked how she is, i would have done the same thing. (or worse)
