Motherboard & CPU problems

I just upgraded from an Nforce 2 with AMD 2500+ & 512mb ram to an nforce 3 ultra with AMD 3500+ & 1gb ram, now I ran 3D Mark 05 and my old pc got 2400 & now I'm getting 1000... all my games run slower & windows takes over 30 bars to load, it also informs me that there is a problem with the voltage thing.

I don't anything about the voltages in the pc but its meant to be the +12 v but mine says its running at 2.2v, I think that might be the problem.

Can someone please explain what that voltage is for & maybe how to fix this.

Thanx in advance

Im guessing that it’s a phoenix bios. ( I have a msi board too )
Try this. Go into the bios and select load optimized setting. And c if that helps. That’s the easiest. Otherwise you are going to have to set it up yourself

tried that & still flashes red & warns me its at 2.2v, from what I've read it's meant to be for HDD's and fans...

If the 12v rail was at 2.2v, the pc wouldn't boot.

Did you format and reinstall windows after the upgrade?
Are you using the same graphics card?
When you right click on on my computer and click on properties, what is the speed of your cpu there?
What gfx card and psu do you have?

That doesn't explain why it still says 2.2 after the bios was set back to defaults. Besides haveing the cpu at 2.2 would make it very hot and he will experience shutdowns at random. In fact the pc probably won't get past post. I think it could be a jumper on the mobo that makes the board run at 100mhz fsb.

Well CPU = AMD 64 3500+
G-card = 3D Prophet 9700 pro 128mb
PSU = 300 watt
2 other HDD's, 1 gb ram, 1 fan..

If I right click My computer, it says AMD 3500 + 2.2 ghz
I didnt reformat but I reinstalled windows, downloaded new MSI & Nvidia drivers (fixed the 3D Mark 05 score to 2500 instead of 1000 & also time taken to load windows) but still warns that its at 2.2V , downloaded SiS Sandra lite & checked there & says the same thing, I can use computer fine with no problems now,cpu temp is 35 & mb is 15, everything seems fine except that, maybe it's just a a faulty monitor or something on the motherboard?

possibly the 3v running low.. as mentioned alread try another PSU as this is most likely cause
did the new mobo come in a seperate case or did you do a self install? there might be a small short happening between the motherboard and the case, any strange burnt plastic smell or anything?
btw you can only adjust cpu voltage, and at 2.2v your pc wouldn't boot at all

I installed it myself & i know i didnt burn/blow anything because I've done that before and I know what it looks & smells like, & I did connect the 4 pin power connecter & without that the computer doesn't turn on & the the other power connecter is also plugged in, I have not fiddled with any jumpers on the motherboard...will try another psu & let u know :)

I think I have the same mobo as you MSI K8N Neo plat socket 754, have you got the latest bios w7030nms ver 2.1, are you using the 5.10 or 5.11 drivers for the mobo, if it is the same one, go to cell menu in the bios and set cpu voltage to detect on startup, disable cool and quiet for the fan and cpu, if it's set up in the bios it will kick in once the o/s is loaded. use the latest core center software to monitor voltages and cpu temp etc ver 2.0.1.7 then take it from there, older bios didn't support the correct voltages for some cpu's

Who remembers this thread :D, I went out and got a new power supply(was 300w now 400w)

@ghalied
I got the MSI K8N neo2 plat, its the socket 939

With new power supply, windows detects no change in voltage, now I check in the bios & it says it is at 12v though so I'm guessing that there is nothing wrong with power supply or motherboard, prob just an error in the program

Kinda makes me feel like a noob but oh well

Thanx to all for the help! :)

maybe it's a jumper setting on the mb itself?

LOL THIS AINT A BLOODY IBM XT. Welcome to the 80's.

Anyway

1) reset all the hardware (As in reinstall it)
2) make sure your CPU FAN is connected
3) reinstall windblows
4) install nvidia forceware

there you go

check if your PSU fan is spinning.

Horrible motherboard - I bought 20 of them (& MSI K8N SLI-Platinum), 4 was DOA, 3 blew on first bootup, 4 died in the next 24 hours. And if you get it working its a slow motherboard. Thats the day i stoped buying MSI EVER.
